I love dogs as much as anyone. I have owned a doggie day care in Golden, CO and have volunteered for many years at rescues.
It’s plain and simple. If your dog humps or is aggressive don’t bring it to the dog park. We are all sympathetic to the problem that you have with your pup. If everyone else’s dog is following good behavior not only do we not like that behavior against our dogs but we don’t want our good dogs to learn it. We especially don’t want our dog injured. Please get professional training of leave that dog at home. Thank you. |

Had a park near me in UK many years ago that would not let entire male dogs in.

Agreed 100% but some dogs may not be trainable depending on their past and In that case the owner has no choice but to not bring that dog to the park. It’s sad if you own one of those because I understand the dilemma.

We were told by the last 3 vets that we used to stay away from dog parks, it is the best place to pickup parasites, other diseases, and dog attacks. We stay away from them.

On September 13, 2021, my pooch got bit in the left paw on the underside after being approached by a pit bull or pit bull mix at Doggie Doo Run in the central field while we were just walking to the 5 acre back field. This was in the evening when there are very few dogs.
The pit bull mix came up to my dog and they started going apart but the pit bull then spun around and all I heard was my dog screeching. It was very fast so I did not know what occurred. I picked him up and the pit bull owner ran over and got his dog away. I had no idea what actually happened but went into the big field area and shut the gate. My canine friend had stopped making the noise and I put him down to try to figure out what happened. The dog that bit him was going to the gate to the back field rather often and it looked like he was trying to figure out how to get in there. I did not see any blood at the time. But one of the employees of DDRR, Joe, had asked me what had happened as he had been in the small dog section with his charge. I thought my dog had just sprained his leg or something or twisted a toe but I did see a very small amount of blood in between his toes. But I still thought maybe it was just a twisted leg. Took him home and thought he was OK but by next morning he could not walk on the leg. Called Buffalo Ridge Animal for an appt and they only had one vet working and she was fully booked for emergencies and also regular customers. I contacted a few other vets and saw that the emergency vet near NYPD pizza opens at 3. This is by Walmart in Oxford, FL. A vet's assistant called me from Paws Animal Hospital and offered a morning Wednesday appt which I accepted. The vet there at Paws Animal Hospital took x-rays after examining our little guy and pointing out the hole in his paw on the bottom. X-rays turned out OK. The vet said I was very lucky if a pit bull had actually bit him as they can do a great deal of damage very quickly. They gave me some antibiotic and pain medicine at Paws Animal Hospital. I contacted the owner of Doggie Doo Run Run, Scott, about our chihuahua/terrier mix getting bitten and suggested he ban the pit bull or pit bull mix. That Monday evening was as far as I know its last visit to Doggie Doo Run Run. It was also its very first with what I kind of think was a new dog owner as well. I stayed away from the dog parks for almost a month to see how our little fur baby got along with dogs at the mail center and around the block. He seemed to be his old self. A Great Dane in a chihuahua/terrier body. My dog did return to Doggie Doo Run Run in mid October. There are some very sweet pit bull mixes that come to Doggie Doo Run Run but there are occasionally quite aggressive ones as well. And some of the little dogs can also be rather nasty. The last time I went to the archery range at a certain time of day, someone was bringing their beagle to the dog park right next to it. That beagle SCREAMED constantly. Would run to one end of their side, scream, then run to the other side and scream. It sounded like they were in horrible agony, but that's just one of the types of howls that beagles make. Sounded a bit like this:
A Perfect Beagle Howl - YouTube If it's just a few seconds, or a minute, no biggie. But imagine trying to aim an arrow that can kill a deer, at a target, while listening to that non-stop only 50 yards away from you for 1/2 hour or more. Eventually I just stopped going that time of day but - really - some folks need to acknowledge that their dog's awesome noises are not necessarily something anyone else wants to hear consistently when they're out. |

There was a very sweet and very passive pit bull or pit bull mix at Doggie Doo Run Run a year or more ways back. My chihuahua/terrier would chase her around the big field while barking at it.
Unfortunately some of the more aggressive big dogs took chunks out of this very mild pit bull or pit bull mix. Think the dog took months to heal and then came back to Doggie Doo Run Run and it happened again soon after the canine returned. |

If I see a pit bull entering park I immediately pick up my dog and leave. This breed does more damage to others, people and dogs vi would never own one. I would rather air on the SAFE SIDE

Not necessary to identify as a pit bull. Pit Bulls are awesome dogs. The owner needs training.
