We have our home and golf cart through The Villages Agency. They have an office at every square, I used the office at SS. It's across from Cal's Barber Shop in the same building as MVP. They put my cart with a company called Foremost and we pay $130 a year. Since yours is for renters it will probably be higher but at least the Villages agency will be the most experienced.

This does not answer the question. Insuring a golf cart at a rental property is totally different than insuring it at a private home. There may be more than one company now, but Allstate is the only company I know for certain will insure the homeowner, their cart and the renter. There are two major conditions however. The homeowner must show that they are allowing the renter to use the cart WITHOUT charging specifically for it. And the homeowner may only make this arrangement with one cart and one renter at any given time.

Progressive also offer insurance for renter's using your golf cart - again with the stipulation you are allowing them to use it not charging them. They send you a form asking for the tenant's driver's license info etc and actually add them to your policy.

You will now probably read posts from folks that think it is foolish to offer you golf cart for use to a tenant and it is something that has to be within your comfort zone because I suppose it could get funky if there is an accident. Once again it depends on your mind set and how you choose to make these types of decisions.

Gomoho is exactly right. You can bet that the Florida lawyers like Morgan & Morgan, NationLaw, and Dan Newlin would love to take the case if your golf cart caused personal injury to anyone - especially if it was being driven by a renter. These personal injury lawyers know all the loopholes to separate you from your life savings.

However, it is your own personal comfort zone. Rent the house with golf cart included and hope for the best - or store the golf cart somewhere and let the renters rent from a golf cart store.
