Default 87% cut in SS staff

That won’t affect any of us, will it? Of course not. We don’t need that.

Don't know what you're talking about. But, it sounds like fake news.

Don’t they give you the option of leaving your number and they will call you back?

I did that a couple of weeks ago and they called me back. Unfortunately, the woman who called me back was unable to solve the issue and did not attempt to contact anyone else in an attempt to solve it.

My interaction with Social Security has been all electronic. I never needed to talk to a person. The delivery of Social Security payments is automatic with no human involvement. The biggest problem that DOGE identified was scammers redirecting the automatic payments and dead people receiving payments.

I went there about a month or so ago. The man was funny, intelligent and very helpful. We had to wait about twenty minutes but it was not too bad.

And that was solved by reducing staff, facilities, subcontractors? How has any of that reduced fraud in social security . medicare, medicaid, tax cheats?

Does he think that that with the number of audit staff at the IRS being decreased (which is where the brunt of the IRS staff was reduced) this will decrease the number of people and companies cheating? Historically the audit staff has brought in three times the amount of their costs to do an audit.

Decrease waste and money - unnecessary travel between Washington and Palm Beach - at three million a pop.

unbelievable. hunting for political responses. throwing a baited hook out. and hoping for bites.

I find these type of posts to be reprehensible. Making a statement with NO facts, backup, or details.

I wish that Mods would recognize posts as this and stop the fishing attempts.

BTW, thought I'd Google the SS 87%... here's what came up>>>

Social Security may be shaky, but it's not all bad news.

If you're worried about the future of Social Security, you're not alone.

A 2024 Gallup poll found that 87% of U.S. adults are concerned about the program, with 43% of that group admitting they worry a "great deal" about it. Also, 47% of nonretired adults believe that Social Security won't be able to pay them a benefit once they retire.

Social Security has indeed been on shaky ground for years, and the problem isn't going away. But what will that mean for your future benefits? And just how worried should you be for your financial future? Here's everything you need to know.
