Didn't know where to post this so I thought I would try here.....What time of the year, Spring and Fall, can we at TV expect a visit from the notorious Love Bugs that always visit. Can I be assured they are gone by the end of September and do they not return until May?
Thanks |

Assured? No. Sometimes they hang around a little longer. Sometimes they show up a bit earlier. This year, they showed up in March. So far, you can be assured they will show up twice a year, some years worse than ever, are perfectly disgusting and relatively harmless.

They're back already. Usually arrive after the snow birds leave and they make another late summer appearance before the snowbirds return

And they L O V E light colors, especially white. So if you have a white car, they'll just love it.

Umm, I was at TV from February 26 until April 2 and never saw one love bug. That is why I figured they came later.

They remind me of lightning bugs without the yellow flashing navigation light!

Navigating is not the correct verb, but it does end in "ing.". No No naughty naughty it's "copulating."

Well Don, my main concern stems from my experience with these little devils in Gulf Shores the past couple of years. They were hoards of them and they would literally ruin the paint on cars if not removed almost daily. They were everywhere for about a week and then totally disappeared overnight. Since I will have my Trike with me when I come down this Fall for a couple of months I was trying to get an idea what I would face with these little devils. Since TV is actually south of Gulf Shores someone had mentioned to me in March that they come later to TV then they would up a Gulf Shores.

I'm thinking the warmer than normal Spring had something to do with the early arrival of these pesky little creatures.

We are now starting our third summer in TV and love bugs haven't been touch of an issue for me while outdoors. Sure you can run into some while playing golf, but that's better than getting bit up by hordes of mosquitos. //// I guess living in such a nice place as TV can make a couple of weeks of love bugs seem like a major problem. Come on down, get on your Trike and enjoy your workout. Carry a toothbrush just in case you start enjoying it too much. <grin> Don

Don't worry Don, I'm going to for sure. Can't wait to get back for a couple of weeks in July and spend all of October and November down there at this point. Sounds like the Love Bugs aren't so bad there as they are around the gulf coast.

So far, they're not been too bad compared to the past. Beginning to come to the conclusion that I want them coming early, hanging around longer and not being so prolific.
