Default Secret Ballot no Secret in Villages

Stopped by Savannah Center this morning to vote for my Amenity Authority Candidate. They checked my Resident card, I signed my name and they gave me a ballot form with my district and lot number on it. It also had a place for my name and address. When I explained that I thought this was a secret ballot I was told the name was optional although it wasn't spelled out on the ballot. Name or no name they still have lot and district number. WHY?

I'm not sure of the legallity of this election but it sure looks fuzzy!

I am in District 3. Were the other districts different?

Each household is only allowed one vote...maybe their method to manage that? But, it does some like there would be better ways to accomplish this.

In my district there was nothing identifying on the ballot and we were told to only select the candidate and not to write anything else in like the lot number or our name etc.

I also thought it very strange for us to include our name and address. Especially since I had already signed their book.

I voted at the Belleview city Hall. There was no name on the ballot.

The folks who managed the AAC election at Mulberry (Dist. 4), did a great job. They verified everything in their big property records books, then instructed voters to go to the table which included their lot number. When I got there and the inspector determined I was in the right area, she gave me a ballot and very clearly instructed me to write NOTHING on the ballot except an X signifying my candidate choice. That was the proper way to insure a secret ballot.

Whoever designed the ballot made the colossal error of including personal data including property ID info. Anyone who put their info on the ballot was therefore denied their right to a secret ballot. I have no idea how the ballots will be handled, but the fair thing would be to have the tally and certification of the vote done by some independent agency and then have the ballots destroyed.

I'm from a state which has never had widespread problems with voting mechanics. It's amazing down here! Hanging chads, names on ballots, etc.,etc. WOW!!
