Sorry about that! I know Edna's parking lot is 3/4 of a mile from the golf cart parking of the MMP if that helps with the distance as I walk my dog there.

Yes, it’s only accessible by cart, walking or bicycle from the MMP. You can check out equipment from the Everglades Rec. center. There are no reservations required, it’s walk on, first come first served. Up to four players in a group. There has been a disc golf club “The Villages Chain Gang” here for about 8 years and it’s growing in popularity. There was minimal expense involved in the development of the course. Environmental impact and financial up keep should be little or none. Check it out.

True, but it is still good info for us cart drivers.

Don't listen to the naysayer about walking along the MMP from the Everglades area. There are lots of walkers along that trail and lots of grassy areas on the side should you feel closed in!
But it’s a much longer walk

Still would be better to take a golf cart there though as there's parking right near the disc golf first tee box.
VAPeople didn’t clarify what they meant by “horrifying walk”. I interpreted as meaning too long rather than dangerous as you suggest.

We see an entrance to the course closer to Edna’s. Not sure about access from the other end. If no access at the other end it looks like the distance is the same from Edna’s vs softball field. But much nicer walk from Edna’s. More parking available at softball fields.

I love how we've been trained to consider an $80,000 expense to be "minimal".

I called the walk "horrifying" because we think it is very dangerous, especially the part on the bridge that crosses the creek.

We used to walk the entire path around Hogeye Preserve before they built the golf cart bridge at Water Lily. After they built the bridge, the traffic on the MMP greatly increased. We hated that part of the walk along the MMP, so we stopped doing it.

Parking your car is the least of your worries for the disc golf course. It is located on a floodplain next to the wildlife preserve. Every week or so you will come across a half eaten disc, and a wrist watch.

The bridge takes around 10-15 seconds to walk over. Not hard to wait for a pause in both direction golf cart traffic to time it. It's safer than crossing a street around any of the squares to be honest.

Shorter walk from the softball parking. Besides, would you expect someone to drive to Everglades to pick up the equipment, drive to Edna's and park, walking over 1/2 a mile with the equipment and then walk back with the equipment and then drive back to Everglades to return the equipment?
