Default Holiday Decorations?

Is there a holiday going on, that I don't know about?

There's a home that backs up to Stillwater Trail, I believe it's on Maysville Way.

The entire rear/side of the home, under the eaves, is "decorated" with a string of flashing purple and red lights (like Xmas lights), that bathe the entire side of the home, in an array of psychedelic colors.

Seems odd, but there's no accounting for taste.

I've seen several homes with Valentines Day decorations. Maybe that's what you saw.

There you go!

I suspect that's what it is.

I guess I've never lived in a neighborhood, where folks decorate their home for Valentine's Day. Caught me by suprise.

My guess is the house in question has “Permanent Exterior Lighting”. Installed under the eves, on strips and can be color controlled however the owner chooses.

It’s an alternative to hanging light at Holidays, with multiple color choices, or have a warm white glow either solid color or fading color changes, surrounding the house. There is at least one TV Sponsors have posted on installation with pics.

So my guess is the owner had the lighting installed and thought “Valentines day”. The house across the prairie from us has their red/white on, my guess in March it will be changed to Green/white. Otherwise the lighting is a warm white under the eves. During the Super Bowl their team choice was very apparent.

That choice could be construed as “No accounting for taste” for some. After all I don’t see many who upgrade their home to make others happy.

There is a house nearby that has two big, and I mean big hearts in their yard along with two tall flags, and hearts on their window. Like you, I didn't know it was a thing for Valentines Day. I'll just wait until next Christmas.

Two of our kids married on 2/14. One the CC had available date, and Two forgetting that anniversary date is kept to a minimum. Both are celebrating in Vegas with lots of perks and very little planning on boys part.

There is a house in our area that recently installed this type of lighting on their home.

We call it the carnival house because they have multi colored chasing lights EVERY night.

Looks silly to me, but if it’s up to ARC/CDD standards, so be it.
