I have been in FL. , 30 years the reduction for hurricane exposure is probably true , all these companies do this from time to time I have been lucky so far and my number hasn’t come up. Many years ago we had some pretty bad years and many companies dropped out of Florida, getting another company now is just a quick phone call away

Wrong. Have gotten quotes from USAA twice in past 3 years for Homeowners Insurance. Decided to go with ASI (now Progressive). Quotes fairly similar. But USAA definitely still offers Homeowners here. Maybe it depends on what part of TV you live in? Our home was built in 2017.

Don't know that people are "scammers" when their insurance company inspector okays new roof due to wind damage from February's high winds.

Not true. They ARE paid for by the homeowners policy. These scam roofers will actually pair up with a lawyer to sue the homeowners policy if the insurers don't agree to pay for a new roof. WE end up paying for all these roofs from the ever increasing sky high insurance rates.

Progressive is no longer writing new policies in TV. I called them direct and also checked with the Villages Ins. I have American Intregity and it went up $800. All the other Homeowner companies want you to bundle your auto. I like my auto company and don't want to switch. AAA did not even call me back with a quote about a Howeowners policy

You have to have been in the service or still living in the home ( child of service member). They do not insure you just because your dad or brother is or has been in the service. I tried.

I have lived in a gated community near TV since 1997 and never submitted an insurance claim on my home owner's insurance. According to my insurance company, (St. Johns) the 2020 premium of ~$2300.00 was doubled to ~$4600.00 for 2021 because the number of huracanes in Florida, during the past huracane season has drastically increased. And, because, the number of roofs in my community they replaced because they were deemed "damaged by previous storms." I discontinued St. Johns and went with USAA, with somewhat better coverage for $2450.00 annual premium.

Last year, I contacted Amica and was told they don’t write homeowners policies in Florida. Have you get yours from Amica? They have a great reputation. |

The true value of an insurance carrier is how they react to a claim. Many will give you a great price (ever wonder how they do that) but when it comes claim time, less than responsive. Had a couple friends that went that route and when Irma came through, it took up to 2 months to get an adjuster and 6 months to get a settlement that they could accept. If you can get a lifetime of no claims the savings is worth it....I guess.

My husband and I live in a 4 y.o. house. Almost all of our neighbors have had their roofs replaced. Where do we start ? Who should we call first? |

When we first moved here in 2012 very few companies were writing homeowners policies due to so many hurricane claims. I had never heard of the company we had to use. Eventually State Farm started writing policies here again. We went back to them.

Don’t be so sure about that. Our premium with American Integrity skyrocketed so I contacted The Villages Insurance, who we have been a loyal customer of for all of our Florida insurance needs. They searched their portfolio of homeowners Insurers they are an agent for and could not find a better rate. I really didn’t want to change to another Insurance agent, but The Villages Insurance was no longer making the grade. I contacted and independent agent in Leesburg who got us an excellent policy with Farmers Insurance that saved us big $$$$$. I also switched my auto and golf cart insurance to the new agency and set it up so all the policies renew on the same date. Now I will only have to deal with the whole insurance thing once a year for everything.

Our kids had no problem getting usaa for their coverage on homes. Just needed correct information on their parents military records. One is closing on a home next month with a new policy from USAA. None have lived in our home for close to 15 years
