Default Home oweners insurance

Home owners insurance seems to be going up by leaps every year. Does Travelers have a lock on The Villages? I would like some info on other companies. I think we need more competition in insurance.

Make sure you have the "wind inspection" done. My Travelers policy last year went from $900 to $1500. But then I had the inspection done and Travelers sent me a check back for $700!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am purchasing a CYV in a week and just finished pricing a homeowners policy; found that Geico at 1-888-395-1200 had the best coverage and price for the Villa. I have a $500 deductible for both hurricane and other occurrences. They beat TV insurance by almost $100 for the yearly poilicy. I was also surprised at how inexpensive it was compared to some of the other policies I have had over the years!

Interesting Hunt.....I have Geico for auto here in FL; when we first bought and again on one year anniversary with Travellers I checked with GEICO and they said they were not writing homeowners in FL.

Like Jeffy, My Trav went from about 1,000 in year one to 1,500 in year 2. Coincidentally, I had the windstorm mitigation inspection done while renewal was in process and premium went down to about 800 per year so I stayed with Travellers.

As you can see, it does pay to shop around.

Talk to that cute little Connie Duff Wise (well, she looked real cute in the paper last week, wearing a spiffy hat at the polo match) re State Farm auto and home. My sister was able to transfer her auto and get home owners last fall with no problem. Seems like a very professional operationl.

A Lady Lake State Farm agent told me that State Farm is not accepting new customers, only current State Farm customers who are relocating to the area. I don't know if this is still true today. I last spoke with him about 6-8 months ago.
