Yeppers. 18% this year with Tower Ins. No claims either. SMH... Knew it was coming tho.

What about flood insurance? Is it needed ? My ins quote is about 600.00 less with out flood ins included. Is that something I will need or something I can live with out ???

Try Farmers Ins. They were $500.00 less than my increase from the Villages Ins last year with same coverage.

If you're using Liberty Mutual you're helping pay for a ton of ads for Lemu and Doug!!

It really depends on where you live and the projected flow of water from an event such as Hurricane Irma. We live on a slight incline that allows the rain water to flow directly into a retention pond well down the street. It is our assessment that the topography virtually eliminates the need for flood insurance. Of course, if we were to have purchased a home nearer the retention pond, my thoughts might be much different.

A person may be able to save some premiums by switching companies & do not say you have granite countertops, tile flooring. You could self insure in that area.

Depends. There is an online map that will tell you if your in a flood zone. It also rates your location which can help in your decision.

Somebody has to pay for the free roof replacement you got last year! Nothing is free!

Ricky Dale 06-10-2021 06:39 AM

Home owners increase

You can thank everyone that had a new roof this past couple years. Although that is only part of the issue. Many roofers scammed many residents in and out of The Villages claiming damage. Insurance is supposed to pay for repairs, not the entire roof unless totally damaged. Asked a lot of those homeowners what the date of loss was and what the roofer recommended to use.
Insurance is a pool of money we all pay into. When the fund gets low, guess who makes up the difference, WE, THE CONSUMER pays more into the pot to rebuild the shrinking required reserves set be the state insurance code.
This has also created stiffer underwriting by the insurance companies. It is not the fault of the independent insurance agencies. The older your roof, the more you get to pay.
  • The more claims a company pays, the more we ALL pay
If your individual roof is too old, you stand the risk of the Insurance Company, not the broker, can cancel you.
This is not just in The Villages, it is all over the state. If you know anyone in Miami, Tampa or other city, talk to them, bet they have the same story.
I retired from this industry over ten years ago. Realize even the lawyers advertising 'We not suing you, we're making the insurance company pay as they have an unlimited pool of money'. Guess who the pool is, WE, THE CONSUMER. We get charged more when the pool gets low.
Insurance companies are like any other business, to have money left after all of the bills and in this case, claims paid. Can you imagine a company in business not to make a profit? They are no different than our favorite restaurant or grocery store.

You can change insurers and get the same rates as last year. Call AAA.

Joe C. 06-10-2021 06:50 AM

Check insurance premiums ...home and auto with AAA. I switched from the Villages when my premiums started going up last year. They checked my policies, and came up with better coverage, same or less deductible, and I saved $180.00 on my insurance bill. Mama's a happy camper now.

Fire your insurance company and call Progressive to save on your homeowner's policy.
