Change companies. I've done that for 30 years. Insurance companies biggest expense is getting a new customer. They really don't care about keeping you. Hence the increase. Florida storm...please!!!!

Have shopped it a few times and they are always competitive. Just wondering if others are seeing this also and to this degree.

Yes, I called The Villages and they renegotiated for me. I got a rate that was much better. This also happened to my golf cart; it almost doubled. We bundled it all and it dropped $10 less.

Depends. There is an online map that will tell you if your in a flood zone. It also rates your location which can help in your decision.

no you can't live w/o itas generallythe mortgage holder requires it - just like collision damage insurance on a financed car

With BILLIONS of $$$ in damages due to "peaceful demostrations" it is no wonder that insurance prices go up. Wealth distribution.

I’m currently in another state. I had some deck work done (unscrupulous and unprofessional with a lot of “f” words) and mentioned I needed a new roof in FL. He said that I should’ve called him because his company in FL can claim as damage from storms with no issues. I already knew they were creepy but then it was confirmed. And there you have part of the reasons for the rise in premium.

I was cancelled because they didn't like my roof. No further explanation.roof is 15 years no problems . Something is going on. Seems everone is doing it

Debra Freeman post hit the nail on the coffin why rates went up. Its just not The Villages its all of Florida. There was a article in the Wall Street Journal about a month or so explaining that insurance rates in Fl. were seeing large increases from last year

Yes, thanks, we have an umbrella and intend to keep that coverage.

You can have liability coverage with an umbrella without having a homeowners policy? May I ask what company and premium? Thank you.

Try Allstate, The Bascom Agency 1-352-753-1177. Great customer service and pricing.

I would also like to know. Most companies require you to buy the maximum home and auto liability coverage available before they will sell you an umbrella policy. And, the umbrella policy doesn't change your risk coverages, it only increases the liability amount.

Be sure to get an umbrella liability policy.

Most umbrellas require a underlying policy with specific liability amounts. If you cancel homeowners, your umbrella will not cover you.

our homeowners insurance is going up because people with older roofs that have wear and tear are giving in to the solicitors who promise them a new roof. the insurance companies face a possible law suit if they deny it and for some reason would be on the hook for the roofers law expenses and so they take the cheaper route and give in on the roof.

as a result, all of us with roofs approaching 15 years of age will be forced to replace the roofs even though ours are still good, because in response to all the bogus claims, they are now not writing policies on houses with older roofs.

it cracks me up that all the "conservative, law and order" types in the Villages have no trouble scamming their insurance companies for a new roof in this way.

The reason that AIG gave is they have been having to replace too many roofs in The Villages. They said that I could keep the same price if I would except a $15,000 deductible on roof damage. I went shopping my self and cancelled all my policies with The Villages as they don't seem to care about their customers. Ended up with Allstate for about 600 less and still have $500 deductible and have sink hole also which AIG would not do. Being as The Villages doesn't care about their customers also changed my auto, motorcycle, and golf cart to Allstate for a great savings.

It’s called TV Ins. because it’s sold in TV. Like 427dave said he called The Villages Ins. & complained they said AIG, & that’s who TV Ins. really is not TV Ins. That’s just where TV Ins. Is sold, not where or the name of the Ins. company is. Ins. rates are figured on all of it clients as a whole no matter what state they’re in.
