Default Home Security System

I posted something in the Contractor & Services forum on an older thread, but got no responses. In view of the number of reported home burglaries in TV, I thought it worthwhile to reopen the subject here.

I saw a recent demo on this system (Suncoast Security Suncoast Security Resources) and found it intriguing. It uses a technology that they call "aironomics." It is supposed to detect air wave changes that trigger the alarm. It is monitored, but the presentation I saw mentioned little detail about it. There was no discussion on whether it included alerts relating to fire, smoke and carbon monoxide, although that is not necessarily a deal breaker for me. I think the unit was about $1200 plus $30 per month for monitoring. In addition, it is portable and can be used while you're on travel. Of course, if you do that, you leave your residence unprotected. Also, I don't understand how the monitoring would work while on travel.

Are there any other TOTV folks that can provide additional firsthand experiences with this system?

I just installed the most fantastic system here in TV. It took me may be 30 mins to install and hook up everything. Cost for the system $376. They have packages and you can order a-la-carte if you like. I got what I thought I needed and then ordered an additional door sensor. The system is totally wireless! It is monitored if you want at a cost of $15 month and there is NO CONTRACT. At my other house I am paying almost $40 with Protection One and will be replacing that with this system! Go to their web site and look it over. You will see some credible people tout the system. Home Security Systems from SimpliSafe If you like the system send me your email address and I can get you %5 discount. If you have any questions just email or PM me. Spending $1200 and $30 is crazy. Simplisafe Works!

I've seen something that sounds like what you are describing. Had the fellow come to the house for a demo. We have a Lantana and the location of the master bedroom had some impact on the functionality of the device. Had to keep the master bedroom door closed all night....and that in itself was a problem. I get up during the night...sometimes for a glass of milk, take a Tylenol, etc.

If you are considering such a system, make sure you can try it out, determine limitations.

Thank you for the information, I found it very interesting. I like the fact that it has smoke monitoring, as well as entry breaches. However, I didn't see any type of glass break sensor being offered. As you may be aware, several of the burglaries here were via glass break-ins (usually the sliders) without opening a door or window. I'm sure that the risk could be mitigated by strategically placed motion detectors, to a degree.

Yes there are glass break sensors. Just look at the add-on list. Also have Co2 and lots of other items. Give them a call and let them know of your concerns.

The solution to your problem is to put a mini refrigerator in your bedroom.
Viola! All the comforts of home!

I also installed the SimpliSafe wireless system. Took all of 30 minutes to install and configure. Then I added a glass break sensor and additional Remote Key FOB. One thing to consider - it uses cellular technology to communicate with the monitoring service. I had to change mine from T-Mobile to Verizon because T-Mobile was too intermittent below 466A. You can check your log online and configure your system by plugging the FOB into your USB port on your computer. You can add all kinds of sensors to monitor pretty much anything you want. Basic monitoring is $15/mo.

This how I went about a security system......I'm not worried about if when we are home as that is well taken of. My concern is when we are not at home. When someone breaks into and enters your home where will they go????? Directly to the master bedroom to look for jewelery, money etc. That is where I installed a motion sensor and alarm. When anyone enters the bedroom a very loud alarm sounds and whoever is there will get out asap. No point on having a system montered by a company for $40. a month that will only call the police after the burglers have left due to the alarm.
I bought my motion sensor, keypad, remote and door alarm for $53.00 on the internet. Sure they can break into the front door, patio door, or windows without being detected but they will head to the master bedroom and that's where they will set off the earpiercing alarm and leave.

Excellent security system......control by GE......national monitoring company (service many federal facilities).......simple self install.....no pressure selling.....outstanding follow up and customer service......require two and three year monitoring contracts (an issue for some folks but should not be).
