The November issue of The Villages Magazine was in today's paper. If you are interested in golf in The Villages this one is for you. It is titled Golf 2010 Special edition.
Below are just a few of the many things that I found interesting in this issue. 1. First major article is titled Driving Towards 621 (That is the number of holes The Villages will have at completion) Bonifay is under construction and has a planned opening in fall 2011. Counting Bonifay there will be 3 more 27 hole country club courses and 6 executive courses South of 466A. There were 2.3 million rounds of golf played in The Villages in 2009. It is my understanding that if you play 18 holes of championship golf that is counted as 2 rounds. 2. The second major article is about Ken Ezell the designer of the courses in The Villages. There will be 135 holes of golf built south of 466A. On that 135 holes there will be planted 9,500 trees, 29,000 shrubs, 240,000 clumps of native grass and 1,400,000 other plants. Bobifay nines are named Pensacola, Destin and Walton the name of cities in the Florida panhandle. The other two championship courses will be named Evans Prairie and Belle Glade. Evans Prarie will be a flat more traditional Florida golf course and Belle Glade will be built along a network of waterways and will be like playing golf in Venice, Italy. Again this issue is loaded with Villages golf information. I just thought I would share a few things with you. Perhaps others will add what they found interesting. For those of you who don't get this magazine it will be available on the November Villages V-mail.

I called the Daily Sun and asked for a copy to send to my brother-in-law. They said I would have to come in a purchase a copy. (It is not inserted into the copies sold at newspaper racks.) I called TV sales office to see if they would send him a copy. They recommended GolfTheVillages.com for info on golf in TV. No one made mention of the magazine being available on line, thanks again.

If you are here in The Villages there are free copies available at Citizens First Bank and if you ask for one at the sales office they will give you one.
Citizens First Bank will be out of them very quickly as their free copies don't last long. Also many of the places that advertise in this magazine get free copies to give out I was at the Hampton INN yesterday and they had them laying out with the free USA Today. But the free copies at these places only last a couple of days after they first come out.

Just another perk to living here, a FREE 130 page glossy cover magazine about our hometown that comes out monthly (?) and can be handed smugly to friends and relatives that we want to impress or persuade to move here.
Yes, I know that it is a vehicle for the developers to sell houses.:boxing2 It is no small feat to produce such an interesting magazine so frequently. I enjoy it. ![]() |

Still interesting that the people at the Daily Sun were not more helpful, seems they could have given me the same information as you have.

I was at The Villages Golf Cart Store at Spanish Springs and there was a stack of these free magazines on a table as you walk in the door.
