Our home is over 20 years old, but has a two month old roof and is in excellent overall condition. I dumped The Villages Insurance several years ago because of their very poor and slow communication and inability to find us competitive rates relative to an outside agency. My wife and I have owned six homes during our lives and have collectively filed a grand total of ZERO homeowners claims, but that doesn’t seem to work in our favor. I would be willing to consider signing a waiver prohibiting us from litigation for a new roof in exchange for a more reasonable rate if that’s what necessary. I would be very interested in feedback from others who have explored that option?
Your new roof should bode well for you IMO. But, if you don’t already, I would try to get written confirmation of the materials and processes used on the new roof - my assumption is it is up to the 2020 standard, but you may possibly be asked to prove it through documentation, inspector report etc.

It is the dividend. I have received one for a long time

I've been getting a check (actually deposit to my checking account) from USAA for nearly 50 years. As long as I've had insurance of some sort with them. They call it a Subscriber's Savings Account. When I didn't have car or home insurance with them for a few years. They sent me a check for over 3k. It was the balance of the account that had built up for about 30 years. Most was auto insurance while on active duty.

You must be confused. You seem to refer to “The Villages” as if they do all the insuring. The Villages Insurance is a brokerage and like all brokerage firms, they shop major insurance companies for the best rates.

We called State Farm. If our roof was put on after 2020 they wouldn’t talk to us. Our home is 2017.

Do you mean before 2020?

We had excellent service with The Villages insurance brokers, but something happened about 4 years ago. All of the sudden their communication with returning emails and phone calls became very poor. We would leave a message and it took several days for a response.
Went with Lassiter-Ware and are working with Gina Rush, excellent.

TV insurance doesn't work with all insurance companies like Geico for example.

I wouldn't rely on them only.

They will shop over 10 Homeowner companies for best premium. They also can write Fire, wind and hail policies. No obligation. Local, longtime hometown agency. 352-245-2423

The Villages Insurance is whom we went to to get our current policy on the home we bought new ten years ago. They have come up with one or two suggestions with whom we could use for a new policy. One is over $1k above our current policy, which they recommend, and the other has about the same premium.

Question: if you have had your policy discontinued, with what insurance company did you end up going with?
Allstate agent in Hollywood Florida represents Tower Hill Insurance Exchange, a Gainesville company with a very good rating from Better Business Bureau. Premium increase was about 60% higher than Farmers.

Then, why is it that some posters say that they don't receive a check?

Hmmm
Four years ago....so around 5/2020. A lot of things we knew, expected and were used to...changed, forever it seems in that timeline. Cant put my finger on the cause tho!

In the last few months every time I would read one of these insurance threads I was preparing for a large raise or worse being cancelled the people on here claiming they can’t get insurance on a 3 year old home or they hav been raised thousands of dollars , doesn’t seem to compare what I and many of my friends are paying mine went up in April about $130 this is a 10 year old home ,(state farm) I wonder if some people have some kind of agenda or just not telling the truth , or if I and my friends have just been lucky

I have a 2012 home original roof that I purchased in August. I tried the Villages Insurance and they quoted me 1000 higher than State Farm. I bundled my car and the home together and saved $1000. I am not sure why State Farm is giving you a hard time.

I think SF changed their policy just recently, April 1st? You got in before that.
