Default Renting A Property

I am new to this so please bear with me. I am looking to move to the Villages in August or September. Taking early retirement and liked what I saw when I visited a couple of months ago.
I have posted on the Real Estated Wanted section, but I wondered if anyone had any other tips on locating a property to rent.
I will eventually buy something but I thought it was a good idea to rent first so I can figure out where I'd like to live permanently.
I would like to rent for 6 months, and would prefer a furnished property if possible so I don't have to move my furniture twice.
Anyone have any words of wisdom for me?
Thanks, Jim

I'm only renting for a month, but other than that, we're in a pretty similar situation. I found plenty to choose from at...

thevillages4rent.com

Good luck.

We did the same thing. We rented a beautiful home in Piedmont with fantastic owners. If you would like additional info, PM and I will set you up with them.

I have found my 5 rentals on The Villages 4 Rent, Rentals in The Villages. Great web site. I have also looked at VRBO® is Vacation Rentals By Owner, but I have not rented through that web site yet. For the past 8 days I have been renting a very nice ranch home in Del Mar, about 3/4 mile south of Spanish Springs and a 12 minute car ride to Lake Sumter Landing. If you want the listing information on The Villages 4 Rent, Rentals in The Villages, send me a private message (PM).

Good luck with finding a place to rent and welcome to. TOTV.

first what size home do you want..do you want to be near a town sq or inbetween them do you want quiet or the road noise is not a big deal..if you want to come for six months i would rent three home two months at a time...in different areas..that way it gives you an idea of the home itself and the area...everyone loves where they live, but maybe not what you would love we advertive also on thevillages4rent and have used it many times for us before we bought and we our home was rented..have stayed in four different villages and helped us when we went to buy

It's available from August thru December....we already have a contract for January thru March, 2014. However this gives you plenty of time to check out everything, while livinng in a great location. PM me if you're interested, or call me at 352-633-3700 (Our home #). Trish

Renting first in a good idea. We did not do that and we have recently sold the beautiful little home we bought last Nov and purchased a bigger home. We loved the location and the house but decided we needed a bigger garage.
On another note, we have a nice 2/2 Cottage home in the Village of Duval available for rent for the months you are looking for. Duval is centrally located close to Colony Plaza, the new Pinellas Plaza which will be open by your timeframe, Lake Sumter Landing and Brownwood. A golf cart is included. Please see the link below to view the property.
