Default Horrible Accident near Evans Prarie

Around 10 PM tonight we passed a horrible accident on the turnaround in front of Evans Prairie. A car or SUV, because it was hard to tell with all lights, was on its side and firemen looked like they were using the jaws of life to try to extricate people. There were several fire trucks, ambulances, police cars, EMT units I would say at least 10 to 15 emergency vehicles. I could only see one car but the flood lights were shining towards us so we couldn't see if there was another vehicle involved.

I pray that the injuries are not too serious but I'm afraid there could be some badly banged up folks. So darn sad.

Let's hope that everyone is ok. We went to Evans Prairie Sat night and I remarked that, when you are traveling south, EP entrance is on the left at the roundabout. It looks like you should be turning left right at the roundabout instead of going around it. I wonder...

Oh I do hope the same. The time of sirens constantly is beginning and THAT is so sad. Please drive defensively dear ones.

How could a vehicle get so badly damaged in a turnaround where the speed is supposed to be ...10mph? 20mph?

It won't be in the Sun today, maybe tomorrow?

People really need to slow down, esp. on that section of Buena Vista.....because the neighborhoods aren't finished yet I think people go too fast.

AND they don't seem to realize how to turn left at a roundabout! This is a problem every year, esp. when the newbies come down.....I am sorry to throw the blame on them...

Is there a way to find out what happened and if anyone was seriously injured?

The good old days when a CB radio was your local news source.

I like everything about the villages except how they control the news. The golf cart fire on odell, bad accident in round about by evans prarie just in 2 days. Unless you have a scanner or listen to radio resources on your computer, only the poa tells of the accidents and that is only if a golf cart is envolved.

You are right. It was NOT in the paper this morning. Why don't you call the paper and ask why not.

I would like to know and I am wearing out my welcome by asking.

Default So sorry to hear, hope everything is OK..

Intersection of Rio Grande and Del Mar is an accident looking for a place to happen also, especially for the snowbirds that are not aware of the new 4-way STOP sign...

Why would snowbirds be less aware than others of what to do at a stop sign?

Because the snowbirds are just arriving and may not be aware of changes that occurred while they were gone......

The intersection of Rio Grande and Del Mar is not anywhere close to Evans Prarie, is it? I thought that was in one of the old sections of The Villages and, if it is the one I am thinking of, there is a huge electronic sign warning people of the new 4-way STOP sign.

Yes, it will be a while before everyone (including returning snowbirds) is used to the sign.

It is NOT insulting to snowbirds to have mentioned it like you did.

yes, all accidents should be reported, whether they make The Villages look bad or not......also would be a way of making us more careful.
