Chilly for November in the Villages, but still very nice on a relative basis. Min/max thermometer hit 19 degrees last night up north and anemometer said wind gusts hit 40 MPH. Wind chill calculator put temperature equivalent at -2 degrees. Ground is frozen solid, the truck tires low air pressure indicator light went on this morning, and the dog refused his usual morning walk. Baby it’s cold outside. So wishing we were at our Villages home right now with the southern cold front, no problem getting a lap swimming lane in the sports pools and t times are a plenty. Can’t wait until these friggin holidays are over, humbug!

Why ask question in this forum? Wouldn't it be easier and probably more accurate to call TV offices? My experience with this forum is there are a lot of experts who don't know what they are talking about.

If you read over the entire thread you will see:

- question asked
- ideas provided, including suggestion to call
- call made and answer given
- answer confirmed by another call
- answer reversed by a third call
- first answer confirmed by actual experience of one of the "experts who don't know what they are talking about"

There are a lot of people on this forum. For many questions that come up, someone here has already tried it.

No double-dipping, just utilizing the system as it was designed to work.
It's just fascinating how folks on here chose to read what suits their purpose and ignore what they don't understand or don't agree with.

If you're referring to my comment, I didn't say or even suggest CoachKandSportsguy was double-dipping. I said "TV is trying to address double-dipping" ... which appears to be exactly what they're trying to do.

Family A lives in Boston.

They then buy a beautiful vacation home in Lady Lake, for 60% of what it would sell for in TV.

They then buy a home in The Villages for investment purposes and get their Resident ID's. They get to use all the TV amenities when their home isn't rented.

When their home is rented and they happen to be staying at their Lady Lake home and want to join their friends playing Pickleball or at the Pool, they call one of their neighbors in TV to arrange a Guest Pass for them, using their Boston address. This avoids the Guest Pass restriction on local residents and is a form of double-dipping TV is trying to control.

This is likely why the Guest ID system cross-references names, as has apparently happened to CoachKandSportsguy.

The rules:

"A qualified guest is defined as an individual whose current residence is outside Lake, Marion and Sumter counties. A resident who has a son, daughter, grandchild or great grandchild (and their spouses) who reside in Lake, Marion or Sumter counties may apply for an in-area guest ID card."

Where is your legal address ? That is an easy and/or ethical question. Where do you vote ? Looking for a loophole ? The rules state "current residence" not "primary residence".

If you are voting here in TV with an address within the three counties you are not eligible for a guest pass. The entire set of rules is two sentences long.

If someone lives in Lady Lake then they are not eligible for a guest pass.

If someone retains their home in MA (or any other state) and comes to visit a friend in the Villages then they ARE eligible for a guest pass.

If I own multiple homes in multiple states then I guess I win. Do you suppose there are many of those people on this forum?

Please read more carefully. Base your answers on what was provided, not what you can come up with in your imagination.

I think what muddied the waters was you were requesting a guest pass for yourself. Only a resident can get a guest pass. Presently you are not a resident, even though you own a house here, as you gave the residency to whomever is renting that house.

However, I’m assuming the friend you are staying with is a resident. They can ask for a guest pass for you. The record for your guest pass will have your name, out of state residence, birthdate, and your friends’ property id. That pass means you still pay for the executive courses, and you can’t use the sport pools. And there is a limit to how many days a year you can get a guest pass.

Obviously, if your friend is not a resident of the Villages this won’t work.

Sorry, if you read all the posts, I did call and got different answers and most likely got the wrong answer from a political appointee who has limited experience with reality.

All this Yes, No, Maybe, Probably, Definitely is taking up time.
By the time it's all sorted, it will be time to go home anyway!

PS. If you give me the unknown UK number that rang you, I will look it up on the scammer list for you.

Yes, I know the process,

You are correct in how the question was posed!

how the question is asked by me (encoded into words) and how the question is interpreted by the listening (words decoded into thoughts) had several examples in my conversations of not being precise enough and the listeners relaying incomplete information. And my words assumed but did not say that the residents we were visiting would be requesting the guest passes.

Therefore the answer I got back was correct, but my question was not in compliance with the process to acquire.

I don’t understand how it is double dipping. If the owners had not transferred their resident IDs, and then had guest visit them, they would be owners, A and B and Guest, C and D. Very legitimate and done all the time. if the renters are now residents A and B, and the owners are Guest C and D, same exact thing. How could that possibly present a problem?

If the owners had not transferred their resident IDs

Sorry, that's not the scenario, so whatever you are commenting about is a made up scenario.

if the renters are now residents

Still not the scenario presented, so whatever you are commenting about is a made up scenario

geez, just adding FUD to the conversation
