Did you have address numbers in the window of the last house you lived in? I have never lived in a neighborhood where the numbers were in the window and emergency personnel were able to locate the house of the person requesting assistance without delay.

not if it is lit up right in front by the light post....or are you saying they are blind and would see a non-illuminated number first? let's not totally depart from common sense and what is made obvious by a simple walk outside, just to prove a point....having said that, a sign with cutesy ornamental numbers, welllll your heart is gonna fry

Years ago the middle school where we lived in conjunction with the fire department had a fund raiser the kids had 6 inch number stencils and a frame that held them along with cans of reflective yellow or white paint. For $5 the kids sprayed your house number on the driveway where it met the street (basically just before the gutter). They looked pretty good as the numbers had a nice font and then the EMT's and fire could find the houses. For an additional $5 they would put a border design around them. Raised a lot of money for the school arts program.

All emergency vehicle should have spotlights that can be used if needed to easily find your house number. Don't think those window numbers were ever intended to be permanent or they would have been included as a deed restriction no doubt, just used for the builders and suppliers...delivering sod, etc.

Default address posted may save your life

Having run emergency calls for 30years let me tell you it is a big help to know you are at the right address.....when somebody has stopped breathing or having a heart attack minutes are critical
all homes should have address posted.
all homes should if possible have address posted in same location.
all homes should have 4" reflective numbers
in my opinion its best if the numbers are posted near the street

ok i agree emergency vehicles should have spot lights....thats great but why should you have to flash a light all over searching for the house number....
during a heavy rainstorm or fog its tuff to see the address...simple is best!

I am surprised that with all the rules and covenants in TV this has not been addressed......

lastly if you have a stubborn neighbor who doesnt think the address numbers are pretty....help them by posting yours....if the house on either side of the emergency address has numbers maybe it will save there life
