Seriously.... The people WITH guns, when it comes to pulling that trigger,
could they actually do it?

An alarm system is safer than a gun. We have a panic button near our bed, if I believe someone is in my home one press and the alarm goes off. If someone breaks into your house and their armed, they will have the advantage. They most likely have scope your house out and know how many residences are inside the dwelling. Almost all the houses in TV have the same layout, so they know where you're sleeping and what door you'll be coming out of, and you do not have a clue where they will be. I'm not saying you shouldn't own a gun it's just an alarm system is safer.

You don’t need one. Some people are nervous. This place mentioned isn’t in The Villages.

There is certainly nothing wrong with having an alarm system, particularly one that goes off with flashing lights and wailing sirens. Should be enough to scare the bejeezus out of anyone attempting to rob your home. Great if no one is home.

I don't know if they're common here but some alarm systems used back home did not flash and wail but instead sent an alarm signal to the police. Good in theory but the cops might be some distance away and there's a good chance the robbers would be finished with their business and well away by the time the police get to your home. And if you're IN the home, well...good to have a firearm available in case things get dicey.

We have an interesting system: four cameras that report motion in real time to either my or my wife's iPad. Not only that but the cameras are equipped with speakers so we can talk directly to whomever is being observed. A couple of years ago we were gone for a week and made arrangements with my daughter-in-law and her husband to check on the place from time to time. First time they did it we spoke directly to them while they were opening the front door. "Surprised" is a mild word to use.

The Handy Dandy thing needs a gate card to program it.

Stonecrest is not the Villages, nor is it next door to TV, but it could still happen here. I believe the point of the post was to just be aware.

Yes that was the reason.

Another thing to be aware of are service people you hire to paint, repair plumbing,
electrical work, any lawn care, etc.

Now, I'm not saying their all bad, just keep a watchful eye out especially if you pay
in cash.

Simply safe

You don’t need security here! It’s very rare to get a break in and it’s likely a neighbor who knows when people are gone. This is first I have heard of any breakin in 4 years of living here. Don’t panic over 1 story! It’s not the real world here!

MEbner2805 03-29-2022 12:36 PM

That’s not The Villages!!! Way outside! We don’t have that here! Never heard of it in 4 years living here.

It’s called courage and yes I will pull on someone trying to harm me or my loved ones. Yes pull and draw are two different things. Hope I never need to but I feel comfortable knowing I am prepared
