Well, yes! You’re kidding, right? People can sue you for any reason. Unless you have unlimited funds, you need to carry insurance. And you need someone to defend you for shooting an innocent bystander. You need to be aware of who else is in the area where your bullet is going.

U.S. Law Shield is who we are insured with. We don’t rely on our homeowners insurance for this type situation.

We took a gun class and a few of the things we were told was: if you shoot your gun, be the first one to call the police; and the second one you call is your insurance company (Law Shield or other company that specializes in gun law) so they can guide you through the resulting mess.

I have 15 security cameras inside and outside the house consisting of Arlo and Blink cameras (0ne is a doorbell cam). I have a combination of Tile trackers and the new Apple Airtag trackers on valuable items such as hidden in golf cart and car. I also have them attached to various sets of keys. If the dog was younger and a wanderer, he would be sporting one on his collar.
If my golf cart is stollen for the price of a $25 tracker, I can locate it in the back of a truck going down the highway. The are also useful to hide in golf bags. If I leave my keys in the mailbox, I get a notification while driving away.
To me it is common sense to protect what is yours. I am not paranoid - new technologies are cheap and easy to set up.
I also have five Amazon Echo Dots placed around the house and have a free App. If something happens, I just ask Alexa to notify one or all five of my Buddies. A text, Email and a phone call instantly goes to a specified contact or to all informing them of an emergency and to check on me. All my contacts know how to access the house. Help is within the sound of my voice.
Embrace the technology that is available to you and easy to set up. The cameras are also armed and disarmed using my voice.

Reading your replay here makes me ask a question to a intruder with the intensions
of ransacking/robbing your house:

"ARE YOU NUTS OR HAVE A DEATH WISH OR BOTH"??

Crime in The Villages itself seems to be extremely low

You apparently haven't heard about the breakins, car break ins, and golf cart theft in the villages.

SOMEONE authorized the burglars to be there. That's an actual gated community.

Unless maybe they got one of those handy dandy gate openers that get promoted by various Villagers here on ToTV, to bypass the need for an actual gate card.

You don't need to have a gate pass in the villages, false sence of security. You just press the red button and the gate lifts.

Bottom line is if a theif wants to break in they will find a way, gated or not

Only because The Villages refuses to report it in their media.

Apparently not if you’re Alec Baldwin!

If I ever had to fire a gun, if the target stood perfectly still I would never hit it......lol

Stonecrest is NOT the villages.

Then, it's probably a good idea that you don't own one...

You should invest in buying a Map...
