Default Planning a visit tomorrow ? about dog

Question we have a small dog it it's ok if we bring him to walk around the village squares and streets by the stores?

I guess I'm asking if there are restrictions.

I do not live at TV, but visited recently and there were plenty of (especially little white) dogs on the streets and in the squares. Not sure they are as dog friendly as Winter Park, where every store has a dog dish of water outside the door, but I think it's pretty friendly!

I'm assuming that you already know that your dog must be on a leash at all times. He will probably get lots of smiles and attention. We've found that most Villagers love dogs.

It would be a good idea to take him for a walk before you arrive at the Squares so you know that he has taken care of business. And of course you are responsible for cleaning up after him.

Have fun, the people in TV are wonderful and welcoming.

We brought our Pug to the town square, had lunch and listened to the band in the evening. Saw some folks with their dogs, mostly small size. Don't forget to bring baggies for clean up and cup- water for the dog. Have fun!

We were just there last week, and noticed that it seems to be very dog friendly. Noticed water and dog biscuits in front of one of the stores. Did notice a sign on Panera Bread's patio stating that there is a municipal ordinance prohibiting dogs on the patio.

P.S. Some restaurants do allow dogs on the patio. I haven't checked for a while. Gators in LSL on the water used to allow dogs, but not The Lighthouse.

Some dogs do not like the noise on the Squares in the evenings or during market days (when numerous vendors sell their wares usually from 4 to 6 or so).

I took my dog to the Lake Sumter Square a couple of times a week during much of February and March 2012 just to give him a change from his routine. This was always in the morning and after taking him somewhere else to do his business.

There could be something scheduled this Saturday for the Squares too which would make them harder on a pooch than usual.

thanks for the input, he's only 6 lbs so we can always carry him if it gets hectic.

He's a Chihuahua, so he likes Corona's, hope he gets a two for deal!

That is a very good idea to carry your pooch. I've seen dogs get stepped on when owners weren't paying attention. It's a painful sight.

This was a great post to read because I was thinking my dogs would NOT be welcome in the squares. When we summer in the Quarter in New Orleans we always walk our dogs all over and they love the people and the noise and the chance to get out. I was under the impression that I could not do that in TV so this is indeed good news. They are trained not to relieve themselves without permission in certain places because they are Therapy Dogs so I don't worry about that. They just enjoy the socialization of getting out and meeting people. Can't wait to be able to go. What a great thread to wake up to.

I walked my 96# Labradoodle all over TV during Feb and Mar with no problems. Just be sure you have a bag to pick up any problems. We were stopped every day by people asking what kind of dog we had and if they could pet him. TV is a dog friendly place. Have fun.
