Default How did The Villages celebrate the 4th of July?

Were there fireworks, a parade or some other types of festivities? Hope everyone had a safe, fun and beautiful 4th of July!

No fireworks sponsored by The Villages this year or any other year as far as I know. I don't know if those in charge fear the liability if they cause a fire or other damage by setting off fireworks or if they just don't want to spend the money. Good fireworks aren't cheap and it's not like you can reuse them as you can with Christmas trees and other types of decorations. The parades I've seen have mostly been residents in cars or golf carts so that doesn't really cost much either. They did have a car show at Brownwood on the 4th and possibly music in the afternoon there but that's all I heard about.

Or it could be due to the large number of veterans who live in the villages, who suffer from PTSD during a fireworks show. You know, maybe the evil developer is being considerate of their residents.

That as well as all the dogs with sensitive hearing that get scared half to death by loud fireworks.

I remember spending our first July 4th in TV (several moons ago) without fireworks. You can travel outside TV and catch them but wasn’t the same to us. We just vacation up north to see fireworks and old friends and family during this time. It is what it is.

My sales rep never mentioned there would be fireworks.

I thought they were supposed to have a laser light show at Brownwood. We didn't stick around for it but it was a festive square.
