Maybe. I thought some people would be interested in inversion therapy to counter the effects of gravity on our bodies, especially on all the concrete jungles we live and play on. Especially the active Villagers. To each his own!

I don't think there's anything that would counter the effects of gravity on my body, especially to my boobs!

We have a friend who is 84 and does this every morning. She looks terrific and beat me at golf...I'm 57. Must be something to this or I'm a terrible golfer...yep that too.

I do it every morning. Great stretch. Seems to make me feel better. Also seems to help my sciatica symptoms. Might not be for everybody.

It looks like it might be dangerous for anyone with an undiagnosed brain aneurysm.

Yep. I have told my wife that she could come in someday and find me "blue" and hanging! However, I will take my chances. I could also get hit by a bus, struck by lighting, or get smashed navigating a roundabout!

I find Qigong, Tai Chi, basically any aerobic exercise to be a better way to get the kinks out and to strengthen my back and a lot more fun than just hanging around. Besides I'm not sure that hanging like that is a good thing for older people. But if it works for you that's great.

Hanging upside down is just one step in my every morning " get out the kinks" workout. I do a series of exercises plus ride the Schwinn Airdyne. Then, I am ready to take on the world!

I am interested in inversion therapy. I read further down that you say it alleviates your sciatica symptoms. Do you have leg pain with your sciatica, and does the inversion help with that?

How long each morning do you do this?

I have some pain if I stand on concrete for an extended time. (Especially when my wife is shopping) I can relieve it by bending and touching my toes. While walking I sometimes have to do this. Inversion does seem to help me. I am quite active, It keeps me going.

I invert about 2 minutes four times. I come up slow and come to my feet slow. Need to let the blood flow equalize. Then stay up at least as long as you were inverted and then down again. You should start out gradually at a less of an angle than the full 90 degrees to the floor.

Granted, inverted hanging feels great for the back but I would clear it with my ophthalmologist first because it nearly doubles eye pressure. Folks having glaucoma might want to avoid it and others may want to limit the position to no more than 10 minutes.
