Default How do we dispose of carpet?

Thinking of removing carpet from house to do our own tile ...will the trash guys pick up the carpet and pad and tack strips?

I just had carpet and pad ripped up for wood. We cut it in strips, rolled it and duck taped the rolls. We piled them neatly in the driveway the eve of trashday and the trash folks picked it all up. Good luck!

janrbob,

Have you considered laying some of the carpet on the floor of the storage area above your garage, assuming you have that type of storage. It makes it so much easier to crawl around when using it. We got the idea from a neighbor and have really appreciated his suggestion. Just passing it on.

Regards
Don

Hi:
Have you considered giving the carpet away to a needy family. If the carpet is in decent shape you could place an ad on Craig's list Ocala under the free section and maybe someone could use it. That's what we did with our carpet in Ohio. Someone used it to outfit three of their bedrooms. The little girl who came was so excited to get carpet for her bedroom.

I had mine rolled and laying in my driveway and one of the landscapers in the area knocked at the door and asked if he could have it! I was so glad that someone else could get some use out it!

Sumter County Freecycle is also a great place to donate carpet. Lots of less fortunate people living in Sumter County that would be happy to have it.

I ran an add on Craigslist "Free Carpet to the first one here" and it was gone in one hour. I was so glad it helped someone out.

If you're going to do the CraigsList thing you should commit in the ad to update the listing as soon as it's gone so a hundred late-comers don't drive out.

If the carpet is in 4 foot lengths, rolled and tied or taped, they will take it. Otherwise, call Waste management and ask for a special pickup. They are very accommodating.

Ooops. I misread the title.

I thought you wanted advice on how to dispose of a corpse.

Please disregard.
