The OP said, "Amazon delivered a package to the mail station". Amazon doesn't deliver packages to the mail station, and the Post Office will not put a package in the mailbox unless the postage fee has been paid. Also, the local mail station employees cannot accept the postage fee.

Call Amazon and they will re-deliver to the address you're staying at. Just tell them such.

Once the package has been placed in a USPS mailbox, Amazon cannot redeliver it anywhere.

We are renters that ran into this situation. An Amazon delivery was delivered to the owners mailbox. I just hung out at the postal station and showed my resident ID to the mail carrier. The sign said they were there between 12-2. Easy.

Amazon offers an option of having your order delivered to an Amazon Hub Locker instead of your home or mailbox. This is a good option for those who may not be home at the time of delivery or in your case, those who do not have ready access to their mailbox if Amazon chooses to transfer the final delivery to the USPS. There are a number of Amazon Hub Lockers around and you can select the one you want at checkout.

There should be a key in your mailbox. The key is for a postal box, identified by a number on the key

The OP doesn't have a mailbox key because he is a renter and the landlord did not give him a key. So, he cannot even access the mailbox to see if there is a postal box key in it.

I was under the impression that there is an Amazon location in Oxford for package pickup.

I can't find one in Oxford on Google Maps or on Amazon. They are in Wildwood at Sav-a-Lot and Lady Lake at WaWa.

Would that actually help them with the question they innocently posted ? If you read every word, it sounds like the problem is the amazon package IS ALREADY INSIDE one of our private postal stations. I believe they were trying to ask HOW to get it out. Actually, by NOT posting the hours on each station, can be really frustrating not only for part time and vacation people, but residents too. At our station they are manned anywhere from 10 a.m. until 1:30 to 2:00 in the afternoon. At least as residents we can open our box and post a note on it to please let us know when someone is there so we can retrieve mail or talk to them in person about a matter. Would be a HUGE improvement to simply post the hours ON THE DOOR of each station. Everyone can understand if traffic, needing to stop for gas, or a long train, delays the arrival by 10, 15 minutes, don't think most people would mind waiting that long...but (at least of ours) you NEVER know when they come ! Seems easy to solve, but we've noticed it's actually getting worse ? Go figure ? ?
