Default Strange water noise in Villa

This is not a huge problem. But, wondering if anyone else had similar experience.
For the past few weeks at just around 2:30 a.m we can hear what sounds like a brief burst of water running in a pipe. Lasts for 5 seconds and then is done.
Sounds like someone turned on a hose. Weird thing is, we never hear it until that time in the morning. does seem to be coming from bathroom area.
I thought perhaps ball stopper in toilet needs replacing, but wouldn't that be a bit more random that 1x daily and always at 2:30?.

Thoughts? Similar experience?

Check the frig. The freezer may be defrosting and water is dripping into the drip pan where the water will evaporate. This is normal.

If you have a water softener system it could be the system running through a regeneration cycle. This would not happen every night but at least 2 or 3 times a month most likely.

Do you have a system to circulate the hot water? Maybe that is coming on. Other possibility would be a slow leak in a toilet, and you are hearing it refill.
It will be interesting to see what you find.

I wonder if your toilet is somehow leaking at a refill rate of 24 hours.

A couple of years ago, we had something similar happening. In our case the tank was actually emptying on its own. Called in a plumber (we use Kiley's) and had the interior workings of the tank replaced. I cannot tell you any more than that, but the problem was solved.

Thanks to all , interesting suggestions. Especially the slow refill of tank.
I think I will try simple ball plug and float replace first and go from there.
Will keep you posted

I only have one ear so it's hard for me to find direction of noises. I would think when the noise occurs you could pinpoint where the noise coming from. I too would suspect the toilet bowl leaking down to the bowl which you should be able to see water movement in the bowl or put dye in the top tank and see if it migrates to the bowl. This would be timed event from the last time you flushed, so you should be hearing it a about the same time you last flushed to 2:30 am. Meaning you should also hear it during all hours of the day and night related to timing?

The flapper valve or seat could be leaking slowly taking hours to move the float enough to refill the tank. If that is it? It will eventually get bad enough to refill more often. IMO toilets need to be rebuild (rubber seals and flapper seat) replaced every few years depending on how good or hard the water is.

Thanks. It is hard to pinpoint sounds since it occurs when we are sound asleep and lasts for just a few seconds. Does appear to be coming from Bathroom.
Last time we had similar toilet running it happened at random times all day. Strange thing here is it is ALWAYS 2:30.
Will try suggestions and see what transpires.
thanks again

Do not use those chlorine hockey pucks in your toilet tank unless you like replacing flappers very often

I have often noticed an irrigator spouting off as if the irrigation is starting up, then abruptly stopping. Seems as if it is letting off pressure but that's just a guess. Also, I believe it would go off at roughly the same time each day because it would be tied in with the settings.

I too notice sprinklers making noise out side my bed room window. Scoreboard shouLd be able to check the times it comes on on the lawn sprinkler control. If it came on at 2:30 am may have found it. My system times gets screwed up all them time probably from power surges.

I checked and the start time is five. but the regularity of it makes me lean in the direction of sprinkers rather than toilet.
Thanks for the suggestion
