Default Google Maps Updated - More Streets Now Showing South of 466A

I just noticed that Google maps has been updated while looking at the satellite view of our property. The recently added pool and landscaping can now be seen. With the update many more streets can be seen in the newest sections of The Villages south of 466A.

What's interesting was that I could tell when the photography of Brownwood took place. Don't remember the exact date but I could tell it was on a recent Saturday morning when the Florida State Lottery joined in with the Farmers Market booths. I could just be in the picture since we went there that day, but I'm not gonna go and strain my eyes trying to find myself!

Here is the link that should show you the satellite view Paddock Square that morning:

Same is true for Garmin updates on GPS. Lots of areas south of 466A are in that now, thank goodness.

It was taken Sat. March 30th. I know because my car is in my driveway and I was only down for a few days. It was a Sat. because you can see the farmers market is going.

I don't believe it was the Lottery Day but a day when they had a craft show. If you look at the booth set up you will see that it is much different than a normal Saturday morning farmers market.

Also if you look close at the County Service Center and the new Sweatbay's you will notice the walls are starting to go up as you can see a shadow. Now this would have to have been after April 1.

On second examination I believe that you are correct. I gotta get meself to bed sooner!

The setup shown is similar to Lottery day but there are points that prove my original thought was incorrect. Those points are: 1. There are at least twice the number of canapes setup than I saw on Lottery day. 2. The parking lot in the south-west area of Brownwood looks fairly full. I've never seen any cars parked over there, even on Lottery day.

There are even more points, but the two I noted are sufficient. Good catch John!

I came down thurs prior to Good Friday and left on Tues. my car is in the driveway. So there is no doubt that is the window. There Was a craft show during my brief stay.

I can empathize. I'm living in a pile of dirt as well. LOL.

Another thing triggering the thought of a craft show was the parking lot north of the square has a number of RV's and trailers parked there. Many craft show vendors use those for traveling the circuit and hauling their crafts.

Google Earth, which may or may not use the same image (likely in this case), does have a date stamp of 3/29/2013 - Good Friday.

Just a side note, I'm using the new version of Google Maps (you have to request an upgrade at this time), and it shows the new picture until you zoom in, where it reverts to an older image. On Google Earth, you can zoom in all the way to see detail on houses, etc.

You are correct about the time stamp being 3/29/13, but the image showing of Brownwood was taken on either 3/30 or 3/31 during the Arts and Craft Show held there earlier this year. See Virtual Geezers previous posts on more about that.

(Note: time stamps are obtainable through the Google Earth program, but not available when rendered by Google Maps through a browser)
