Don't know about memoirs but I've kept up a journal for the last 36 years.

Regarding the lady with the ring - obviously, the Salvation Army did not know what the value of the ring was. Morally, wouldn't it be the right thing for the lady to do was to bring the ring back to the Salvation Army so they could sell it for the $2500 and do good for the needy?

Any thoughts on that and what others might do in such a situation?

If that is the case, then wouldn't it be the right thing for the Salvation Army to contact the person who donated it and probably didn't know its value?
I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, I just don't think either is "right or wrong".

I really did not think of the person that donated the ring in the first place but that is absolutely right - if the Salvation Army had a record of it. Just adds a bit more to the equation, doesn't it? Morals or ethics really have a way of complicating a situation!

I was going to make the same comment as Quirky3. I'm sure there are many women who have very interesting careers and would write very interesting memoirs.
