Default Golf Carts and Reflectors

Besides the large double yellow lines on TV streets, Sumter County has installed night reflectors on both sides of the double yellow lines. I understand their thinking.....However, what works well on two lane county roads does not necessarily work well on Village streets. County roads do not have golf cart paths running parallel to the road as many Village streets.

In an effort to avoid hitting the reflectors with their car, Village residents tend to move dangerously close to the golf carts traveling in the same direction. I noticed several times just how close a car or truck was now traveling to my golf cart. To me this is an accident waiting to happen. To be bumped by a vehicle traveling 30 miles per hour, knocking a cart into the curbing and probably overturning would not be a pretty sight. I think the reflectors, no matter how well intended, are a waste of dollars and instead of improving safety-----are a very dangerous safety hazard. In addition, reflectors continually run over by trucks and cars already need to be replaced at additional cost. A golf cart is no match for an accident with a truck or car.

Default Way too many reflectors.

I agree with you but can't vote on the question the way it is worded. I think we need SOME, like every 40-50 feet. They have gotten carried away esp where there are left turn lanes.
