I live in Poinciana and occasionally get down to the newer areas as they are opened up, usually for a pickleball event at one of the newly opened rec centers.
I was just reading the thread about the new connection between Marsh Bend Trail and 470. It got me to thinking; As these roads are modified, first temporarily, then with the new design with new roundabouts, new neighborhoods etc. how long does it take for GoogleMaps to catch up? I figured someone who takes these routes frequently might know. |

For the 470 area:
Apple Maps is up to date. Waze has 470 shown but is missing the Marsh Bend Trail connection. Google Maps had 470 greyed in but does not seem to be routing on it yet. |

They update continuously. Anything wrong or missing today could be correct tomorrow

Adding the map in the Villages App is also up to date for Central Parkway.

It’s terrible. Contact google maps via Twitter and they respond. South of 44 shows dirt with few homes. Took three tries just to get streets listed. Not optimistic about anything else being mapped.
Perhaps if enough people complain some thing will be done. Look at water Lilly area. Shows mostly dirt Google Maps Last edited by Babubhat; 06-06-2023 at 09:36 AM. |

Waze has a feature that allows you to add new roads in yourself and upload them for public use. When I bought my new home in Phillips, none of our streets were on any of the maps. I drove all our streets with my cart and Waze app and added them in, along with a number of house addresses.
In the early days of our villas, when a delivery had to be made we would tell the driver to use Waze. The interesting part is that google owns both Google maps and Waze! Hard to get upset at any of the cell phone mapping apps - how much do you actually pay for them? Zero. |

Actually, when I posted the question I was just thinking about street maps, I wasn't even thinking about satellite imagery. I had noticed in the recent past when I was just playing around with the Google Maps satellite imagery that golf courses that I'd been playin for years (Evans Prairie for example) were still showing up as dirt.
Interesting and useful information to know that AppleMaps and others are far ahead of GoogleMaps on the satellite imagery. |

i agree. for the most part, waze is reliable, but so funny this subject came up. i was following a waze map to a location in Belleview last week, it brought me to a dirt road with a dilapidated house on 1 side & farm on the other. i was told to use google maps to find the exact location, & that was accurate. i think it depends on where you're going, & as said before, if the location is under construction.

I use the VillagesGPS you pay a one time charge of $8. Seems up to date plus has ten times more features than the free village app.
