Default Jury duty scam

My wife received a call from an Orlando number 30 min. ago, the caller stated she had missed jury duty and she needs to post $2000 retainer to clear it.
While she was on the phone I looked up jury duty scam and found this
Scams Target Citizens with False Jury Service Claims | United States Courts

Needless to say she hung up on him when I showed her the web page. We called Sumter Co Sherriff and was told nothing than can do about it.
The callers #407-917-4009 Which I called the same guy did answer and I hung up.

Beware !!!!!!!!!!

Be careful calling back. 407 is Florida, but other scams get you to call area codes in third world countries that charge you thousands of dollars for calling their area code. It goes right on your phone bill. On the other hand, if you use reverse phone lookup to get a name, you could call Seniors vs. Crime.

More info: I looked up the number you quoted. I found a positive hit, but didn't want to pay for details.

In the past...I've typed in numbers to google that I didn't recognize. EVERY TIME....it will show up as a scam number. We've gotten those calls too where they "borrow" true names/numbers and call here. We never pick up unless we recognize the number or if the name is someone we know. I love whomever invented "caller ID".

I tell them OK, let me get my credit card for you, put the phone down. After wasting 15 mins of their time, they hang up.

I say have some fun with these take federal employees: ask one question "What is your job series?" Every Fed.has one, it is numeric four digits. It is akin to a military MOS. They never.get.it.right.
