I never toot my horn when passing cyclists or golf carts. Don't have to I have a Dodge Ram 2500 with the Cummins Diesel and an aftermarket exhaust system as my personal vehicle. Believe me, they can hear me coming.

All kidding aside, my truck is very large and with all sorts of vehicles on the roads I give them as much room as I safely can. I'm retired so I don't have to be anywhere anytime soon, so I adhere to the speed limits here in The Villages, use my turn signals, and drive responsibly.

Learn to share the road. For every instance someone comes up with a cyclist supposedly not obeying rules of the road, there are a dozen instances of cars ignoring the rules, speeding, driving improperly in the roundabouts, etc. and golf carts speeding, darting out in front of traffic, and whatever. It would be wonderful if everyone operated their bike or car or golf cart perfectly, but its not going to happen, so get used to it and drive defensively.

I like cyclists. I like seeing them out being active. Yes, occasionally one will do something stupid, just like car drivers and golfcart drivers. I drive carefully, shrug, and move on. Can't we all just have a bit of a forgiving attitude towards stupidity instead of jumping right to anger?

Parker, you are absolutely right. I actually think that there are many more bad car and golf cart drivers this time of year. Bikers are just responding to them. So what if a biker rolls through a stop sign. How many cars and carts do you see actually stop? So what if bikers go through the stop sign as a group. Chill out and give them a break. Use your heads out there.
