Default Does The Villages use pipe from China?

We just got an inspection report for a home that's only a couple years old. The gas piping shows severe corrosion. I'm a little concerned about it.

That's a close pipe nipple, 100% cut with threads. No matter how it started out, base metal is exposed. If it's steel, it will rust.

It's very unlikely that your steel nipple comes from China. MOST steel in the US - comes from the US and Canada.

Less than 1% of all steel imports come from Thailand.

You will need to consult with a plumber, but there are several products for cars to stop rust which maybe an option, however, I would consider having this replaced and possibly coated to stop future corrosion.

Is there any real evidence that products made in China are lower quality than those made elsewhere? If we banned all products from China, our country would be in serious trouble.

Only logical solution is The Villages need to ban Chinese nipples.

And, I would just point to the Johns Manville lawsuits, that are still paying off claims for their defective insulation products. But these are just anecdotal incidents, not an objective analysis. We depend on so many products from China that it is impossible to make a fair comparison. I think that, without Chinese products, our economy would collapse.

IMO surface corrosion from either Florida moist air (humidity) or galvanic corrosion from two dissimilar metals. First spray the fitting with soapy solution see it got any tiny leaks. Then, clean it with wire brush as suggested and paint with rust preventer. Or just regular metal paint like rustoleum. After dries spray it again with soapy water solution. No bubbles? good to go.

Or it you really think it unsafe call gas company or plumber.

Quote from Google AI.

Yes, in Florida, licensed plumbers are qualified to work on natural gas lines, meaning they can install, repair, and maintain them; however, they may need additional certifications depending on the specific gas line work involved.
Key points about plumbers and gas lines in Florida:
Legal requirement:
According to Florida regulations, only licensed plumbers can work on natural gas lines.
Specific certifications:
While a standard plumbing license allows for basic gas line work, specialized certifications might be needed for complex installations or repairs.
Safety considerations:
Due to the potential dangers of gas leaks, it is crucial to always use a licensed plumber for any gas line work.

Reply #7 has similar sentiments, "If we banned all products from China, our country would be in serious trouble."

I say, if America stopped buying Chinese products, China would implode.
