Default Mardi Gras

Has anyone else noticed that the 'real' New Orleans Mardi Gras is MARCH 4.?
Yet here in TV we're starting our 1st celebration Feb 6.

Are you sure? Mardi Gras is the day before Ash Wednesday on the liturgical calendar all over the planet. You can't change it.

Why would The Villages celebrate it a month ahead of time. Really Ain, you sure????

Average Guy, if TV is celebrating on 2/6, and Ash Wednesday is on 3/5, maybe we should celebrate by averaging the dates.....or is it taking the median date?!

Mardi Gras is not a day, it is a period of time culminating on Mardi Gras Day. The first parade in NOLA is on the 15th of Feb this year. Now for a public service announcement............If you are 19 years old and decide to skip exams to go to Mardi Gras, don't smart off to a mounted policeman.

Facshing in Germany and Mardi Gras in French Louisiana are parties leading up to Fastnacht AKA Shove Tuesday. That means celebrate from now till Fast Nacht. Use up your stored fat int the Freezer and refrigerator and fry doughnuts, my mother did.

I don't think you can have too much Christmas so why not Mardi Gras. ? Laissez les bon temps rouler . I don't have to fast anymore even if Lent came back the way it was when we were kids.
