Question Lanai options

Just wondering what options there might be for keeping rain out of a lanai (not a bird cage)without spending a lot of money or doing a complete enclosure etc. Thanks for your thoughts.

Awnings? I have seen some very contemporay and tasteful ones around TV, not all those old style.

Looking forward to hearing more suggestions. I am dealing with a similar situation. I want to keep the sun out, and keeping the rain out would be a bonus.

What is a lot of money? I guess it is all relative. We did not do a complete enclosure of our lanai if you mean making it a Florida room, but we did have tinted horizontally sliding windows put in. We open the windows for fresh air (it ends up that we have 1/2 the amount of open screening than we did before having the windows installed) and close them when it rains or if it gets too cool. I really enjoy sitting out there having my coffee watching the rain while staying nice and dry!

think in terms of the old South, exterior plantation shutters, U can see out, keep the rain & sun out, and not feel closed in.

You had a cover put over your lanai (that has a roof already)? Or over your birdcage? Just trying to understand.
