Default Incredibly Rude

Yesterday was a "first" for me, and one I did not like. I know, we live in "the bubble" Having lived here three years, me and hubby are loving The Lifestyle, along with the general sense of comeraderie and good spirits evidenced throughout The Villages. Until yesterday. I know the following story is a storm in a teacup, but what a show of bad manners I was "treated" to. I had driven to Lake Sumter Sales Center to meet visiting friends and look at properties for sale with one of the agents. As I backed my golf cart into a parking space, in the ample and not full parking lot to the rear of the Center, a car, with three women in it came at a good speed toward me (as I was reversing into the slot), and drove around me and into the space I had already reversed 2/3 of the way into on the right.. I was so stunned, although jammed on my break, that I sat in the cart as the three women (ages approximately 60's, 40's and a thirty something, and remarkably similar in looks) brazenly stepped out of their car and tried not to make eye contact with me, still parked half in and half out of the space. When I asked "why did you pull into this space when I was already in it, especially as there open spaces all around us.?" The driver, looked very annoyed that I had spoken, and responded" well, I did not know WHAT you were doing"... Deciding I could not argue with ignorance, I let it go. My imagination went into overdrive of all I should have said, should have done, "woulda coulda shoulda".... AAARRRGGGG

Sandra, if I could, I would find them and beat them up. I know what absolutely good manners, good sense and good driving habits you have and enormous patience as well.

I just want to bite.

I hope they weren't thinking to buy here.

All three women hustled into the sales center, but went straight through to the square. I don't know if they intended to stop, but I was literally right at their heels, probably with steam blowing out of my ears. Fortunately my friends were waiting for me in the lobby. Thank you, Graciegirl for the vote of confidence. My friends made me laugh at myself when I related the incident, saying to me "well, they probably did not understand a single word you said"... (what with my British accent, and all)

Is it possible that they might have thought that you were pulling out of the spot? Although, even if that were true, and I'm not saying it was, if it were me, I would have offered to pull out of the spot to let you in, once I was made to realize that you were going into the spot.

Assuming the worst, that they were inconsiderate slugs, it reminds me of the many parking spot battles I witnessed, or was victimized by, when I lived in NYC. That was SOP, in NYC, in the good old days.

My husband and I were in our golf cart----looking for a place to park so we could go to the square for a few hours. We ended up on the street that leads to the Lighthouse Restaurant--saw a car pulling out so we waited and then proceeded to park golf-cart style-- The driver of the vehicle pulling out---said "this is car parking----you shouldn't park here--go back to the Square". Don't know what that meant--kind of like the multi-modal paths--thought they were for all of us. We love The Villages as well--so many wonderful, kind, friendly people BUT there are a few out there--- We just let it roll off our backs--can't fix what can't be fixed.

I would have asked him/her to point out the sign that said "car parking only".

Unfortunately there are inconsiderate people even in TV. Fortunately not many!

Sounds like they don't live in TV. This is a good story, cause when I am there full time and if someone says that to me, I would like to educate them on TV protocal.
