Wow, did not anticipate the no see ums aka black flies coming through cage - anyone know how long the season lasts?

Don't know much about them but we have them too! Can anyone anyone who has been here for a while and familiar with this situation fill us in with the info?

Where we use to live no see ums were very small and black flies were big ( I mean BIG... couldn't get thru the door, let alone a screen.)

12 years here and I've yet to see them here.

After our last really heavy rain two or three weeks ago the pool was loaded with them. They formed islands to try to stay alive hoping for landfall. Used the pool leaf skimmer for removal. The pool guy said that after that rain he had many pools with the same situation. He did say that it is seasonal.

We have them in our pool. I bought a big silk lined net at T&D in Colony. Scoops them out quickly. We had them last year and I think they were gone by mid July.
