We had our homeowner's insurance with Sheri Miller at Villages Insurance at Spanish Springs. It was only $506 a year for a masonry CYV with sink hole and wind damage coverage with a company called Intergrity. We called Sheri when we bought our cart in July. It's a 2011 Yamaha gas with all the upgrades and with $10,000 coverage she put us with Foremost for $130 a year. My car insurance is with USAA and they were actually higher.

I carry Auto Owners insurance on two vehicles that we have in the villages and there is a rider on our auto policies at no charge for our golf carts.

When I got a quote from USAA their golf cart quote (<$100) was for use ONLY on a golf course or for travel to and from a golf course but not for use on public roads. If in fact you travelled on piublic raodways, they rated your golf cart or LSV as a second vechicle under an auto policy and VERY EXPENSIVE, |

Last week I signed on with Allstate for my 2009 Yamaha gas for $96. That covers my wife and I, and anyone I give permission to use my cart. That policy covered renters too.
Bodily injury - $100,000, Liability - $300,000, Property damage liability - $100,000, Medical - $5,000, Collision & Comp. - $100 deductible, and $1,000 for accessories like wheels, enclosure, radio, etc. |

CAR GUYS - I too have USAA. I called USAA for golf cart insurance. Because my golf cart isn't street legal, they said I need to put it on my homeowners policy (I tried to use USAA for homeowners but they don't offer it in FL, but they have a relationship with ASI), so USAA tfr me to their ASI rep. ASI said I'm covered for everything under my homeowners, except physical damamge to the golf cart. If I want to get $5,000 personal property coverage (the max they offer), they have a $75/yr rider BUT that rider only provides 50k pers liability - and even though my auto, homeowners, etc. all provide for more coverage - if it happened on the golf cart they would only pay a max of $50,000.
Something doesn't sound right - who/how did you get your golf cart covered?

I also was quoted around $190 from AAA then I checked with Allstate and got if for $100. Some get it cheaper than that if you also have your home and auto with them.

It was also suggested that it protected your riders. Well for how much? $10k , $20k, $100k, $1m FOR SOMEONE other than you who is responsible. Confused? JED |

UM coverage reimburses you for damages you are legally entitled to collect from a liable party who is uninsured. While it will pay for medical costs you would be able to recover from a liable party who is insured, it also covers you for wages lost, past and future pain and suffering, disability and any other legally collectible costs associated with the accident. Assume a loss of a hand in a serious accident. While the medical bills may not be extensive, the future disability is worth a substantial amount. UM coverage would allow recovery for such a loss. Underinsured coverage (UIM) would pay in excess of whatever coverage the insured liable party would have. So if he had 25K in coverage, the UIM coverage would kick in up to the policy limits of that coverage. You need both UM and UIM despite the typical incorrect information usually provided by the local agents staff. |

Most of the policies that were given for street legal golf carts are not valid.DMV is requiring PIP insurance on the policies to be able to renew tags.We know someone who was sent away at the tag office because the policy didn't have PIP.You will have to show an insurance card at the DMV office showing you have PIP coverage. We checked ours,we didn't have that coverage either. We now have a policy that has PIP.It is thru Allstate.
