In today's digital society encryption holds an important role. While most users of digital data are fully unaware of encryption, which is a good thing. It keeps our private and personal information safe.

While Symmetric encryption is more efficient and more widely used, it is Public-Key encryption that enables the ease-of-use and pervasiveness of Symmetric encryption.

Think about allowing anyone to see the key used to encrypt your data and yet using this public key also preserves the privacy of your data. This lecture will explain the seeming magic (spelled "mathematics") that enables this.
