Default Another golf cart vs auto accident

Happened to go by intersection of Morse Blvd and San Marino just before noon today. A First Response vehicle was there dealing with a woman who was out of cart sitting in roadway. Then an ambulance, fire truck and Sheriff's vehicle were seen heading to this accident scene. Hope it wasn't serious. This intersection has had several accidents since the turning autos must yield to passing golf carts and bicycles sign was posted. I have sat there in my car waiting for green light and several cars have had their turn signals on with no golf carts alongside, then 4-6 golf carts catch up and pass all the vehicles that have been waiting to turn, because they "have the right of way". Seems to me if golf cart operators heading to this intersection observe a line of cars stopped at light with their turn signals on, they might hold back and not attempt to pass all the cars.

But that's just me thinking out loud. I am concerned that there wll be more accidents at gthis intersection because folks are in such a rush and "have the right of way".

Default I don't like that sign, either.

I always yield for cars if I'm a little behind & see that they are turning. Of course if I'm closer to the side street then they should yield to me. I don't know why they put that sign up--cars are bigger & we should yield to them.

We have to deal with this dangerous situation at Morse and San Marino on a daily basis. There is a similar problem traveling south to north at the Rio Grande/Morse intersection. All of these dangerous traffic issues could have been avoided had these traffic patterns been set up differently. All they had to do at San Marino and Morse was have golf carts merge into the automobile lane and stripe off the golf cart lane, keeping carts out of that far right lane. Any time you have cars crossing in front of golf carts there are going to be accidents. When the Morse Blvd./San Marino intersection was redesigned we could not believe what they had done there. So, my husband went over to the sheriff's annex on 466 to speak to a law enforcement officer as to proper procedure. (This was way before any signage was placed there, instructing cars to give way to golf carts) Hubby was told, if he was in a vehicle, and it was safe to do so, to merge over into the golf cart lane, thus preventing any carts from coming upon him on the right. The new signs tell us to give way to golf carts but we have seen so many near-misses as cars hurry to make the right-hand turn, in front of adjacent golf carts, on to San Marino. At the Rio Grande intersection carts going straight through cut in front of cars to get to the middle "thru lane", while cars cut in front of golf carts to get to the right turn lane. The solution to this problem is obvious, easy and quick. Why no one has thought of it is way beyond my capacity to understand. It will take a death there, or at the San Marino/Morse intersection, or more likely at the Morse Gate crossover before these turns will be made safe and sensible.
