We learned on this site that to avoid a potential robbery to turn boxes inside out from expensive electronics and any expensive item purchased. After a robbery a few months ago in The Villages, someone remembered seeing a box in their trash showing they had made a large purchase.

Is it possible the thought behind the original post has been misunderstood? By showing anything that someone else may want, it is possible to open yourself up for a robbery.
.............. and very nicely worded!

This thread is running in a couple of directions. That's OK. It happens in real conversation all the time.

As far as the commentary on bragging rights is concerned. . .

The couple has a passion for beautiful cars and they were sharing their passion.

Somehow sharing a passion seems different to me than just plain old flaunting.

I admit that a beautiful Mercedes always gets my attention.

. . .and sometimes a really beautiful Mercedes causes me to break out in song.

Janis Joplin would approve. (Not of my singing. She would approve of the passion for Mercedes.)

I sure hope the couple knows Janis's Mercedes Benz song.

There is even a line in the song that says, "I worked hard all my life, with no help from my friends. "

Uh oh, now the song is stuck in my head and will be there all day.

Jblum315, you are correct, in fact when my first wife passed away, I hired 2 fire police to keep an eye on the cul de sac where we lived as almost all of the families living there were going to be at the funeral, sad state of affairs.

While I was taught to be modest about any success I may have had, I agree with you totally.
