The morning after Irma I noticed white fluffy stuff on my roof. I determined it to be the blown in insulation. Seems to have come from the ridge vent.
Anyone out there have the same problem ? |

It shouldn't have come through your ridge vent if it was installed correctly.

It would be wise to pay attention to the condition of your homes for the next few days because there could be damage that is not easily detected

It was more than likely blown fiberglass insulation. You may well be missing some ridge vent. Did you home have ridge vent or pan vents? I would have the home inspected asap. If we get more rain this week you could water damage in the attic and ceiling. Call your insurance company and they should agree to send someone to inspect and place a tarp over the damage while waiting for repair.

The blown insulation in the attic can look like fluffy snow. Might be yours, but might be from somewhere else. Winds were pretty strong. If I remember correctly, the blown insulation in my attic at least, isn't fiberglass. Won't hurt to have things checked out.

Depending on how old your home is I would doubt it is anything but fiberglass. If it is white it is CertainTeed Insulsafe III, If it is pink it is Owens Corning. If it is gray it is cellulose or shredded paper treated with aluminum hydroxide.
