I am working in Ca today, so no Halloween festivities for me. Hubby is at home in Utah ready to greet the trick or treaters.
I love Halloween and seeing the parade of kids so excited and on the lookout for spooky critters. We usually run a cd of spooky sounds to set the scene. I am guessing that Halloween is VERY different there. We are very excited about our design appt in 24 days!! and moving day!! But I know I will miss the little goblins on this day next year. Do kids from the surrounding areas venture in to trick or treat? or is the holiday pretty much celebrated by a few resident driveway/garage parties? Just wonderig..... |

We also used to play the haunted music, plus my husband would wear a mask and jump out and scare the poor kids......but they loved it. We'd carve the jack o lanterns and stuff a "scarecrow" with straw, to sit on the front porch.........lots of fun when we were younger and the neighborhood had children. Even in our neighborhood now, most of the kids have grown up and moved away to follow their careers........so very few come to the door. The ones that do are "driven" by their dads in big S.U.V.'s so obviously they are not from our neighborhood. Our kids all walked in groups and stayed on the lawns for the most part, as we do not have sidewalks. They always had flashlights...........and always came home happy after a fun evening trick or treating to known friends and neighbors. |

We went to Brownwood Square last night, to watch the special Halloween entertainment. There were a good number of little ones in costume there (with parents in tow) and sort of makeshift stations where Halloween candy was placed out for the kids to 'trick or treat'.
The kids seemed to enjoy themselves and the people at the square seemed to enjoy the kids. They had really great costumes!!! Last year we saw an organized group that gathered at the Polo Grounds(?) or in one of the Grocery store parking lots maybe- they made a big circle with their golf cars and had bowls of candy ready for the kids, as they marched through. Some in golf cars dressed in costumes themselves. I don't know who had more fun! |

I'm going to trunk-or-treat with my granddaughter tonight at a church in Fruitland Park. She and her parents live just outside TV. If you miss the little ones you can always volunteer at TV's Charter Schools.

Thanks, Uptown Girl, that sounds like the Brownwood and other events were fun!!
Our church always does a "Trunk or Treat" Everyone decorates their trunk and parks in the parking lot for the kids to go from car to car. That is always fun too, usually around twilight, so safe and well attended as it is usually the weekend before Halloween. I am hoping that those type of events there will give me my Halloween fix! |

Huh? Do you mean Tamarind Grove, Tainsley? We live in TG and had not a soul last year. If anyone comes to the door tonight, I'm afraid they're getting mini carrots.

I saw a Pirate (r-r-r-r) at the mail box. I saw a Zombie at the store. I saw a cowgirl and a mime (too bad he was talking) at Publix. Good night everyone don't forget to tip your server! ![]() |

We went to Brownwood last night and gave out candy at one of the churches tonight. We saw tons of kids in costumes. It was fun to see the kids all dressed up in their costumes.

Once again TV has savvy people planning events like this. They seem to anticipate many things that could happen with such a huge and varied population. |

Hi Dottie!
Lots of "older Halloweeners" on Gullberry Street tonight. Sandy & Jim Miller hosted a driveway party for about 130 Gilcrist Villagers. Lots of good costumes, conversations, treats. A good time had by all. Brownwood was hopping last night. We enjoyed the evening there too. Your soon to be neighbor across the street. Robyn |
