Is anyone else having trouble with threads being marked as READ when you haven't even looked at them? Right now I have three threads that are marked with new unread items but I see almost a dozen below that I have not read at all. Hard to keep track of what I've seen. This goes for any of the forums (restaurant, non-villages etc.)

Is this just me? Is there some setting that I'm missing?

I have noticed that also....I believe this version of the software operates differently than the last version. The prior version seem to tag each post for each user on whether you read it or not (I can imagine the database size behind that exercise). This version seems to capture the time you login/start a session and shows you all 'new posts' since the last time you logged out/ended a session. So, it is managing posts based on session time stamps rather than marking each post as read/not read for you. So, if you don't read all new posts in one session when you come back in later in the day they will no longer be 'new to you'. I'm sure it's more efficient for system storage/performance but not as foolproof as the earlier version in tracking every post.

Different, but manageable....the shear volume of posts these days makes it impossible to fully keep up anyway....not that that is a bad thing. I, for one, am glad to see all the new folks and their contributions.

Disclaimer....the "analysis" above is my guess; I don't know for a fact that this is how the system works.

I'm having a problem with being notified via my email for thread responses of which I've subscribed. I'm not being notified.

I'm not a novice and am aware that only the first post will be sent to me. However, all the threads I've subscribed to with responses are not being sent to me.

Anyone else having this problem?

There are two places to look at new posts. You can click on the New Posts at the top which is the posts since you last signed on - could be less than 24 hours. Or you can go to Quick Links and click on the down arrow and click on todays posts. This is a list of post for the past 24 hours from that point in time.

You can also click on Quick Links and go to the bottom and click on Subscribed Threads and look at the posts you have started or replied to since the new system started.

I usually do Subscriptions, New posts, and Todays posts in that order.

Go to Quick Links>Subscribed Threads and look at the Notification column. If it says None you will not be notified. If you want to be notified, click on the box to the right and go to the bottom and click on he down arrow next to Select threads and change the notification to what you really want. You can do multiple by selecting the ones you want to change to the same notification or do all of them by clicking on the box on the title row.

I hope this is what you were looking for.

Well, this "Feature" can be real annoying. Particularly, the first few days before I realized something was wrong. Now I just ignore whatever the system shows as new and just read from about the last post I remember seeing.

V07, Thank you! That explains a LOT! I thought I was going nuttier than usual! I was positive I hadn't read posts, but they were marked as 'old'. I would log on, read one or two, and log off. Next time I logged on there were 20 posts I had 'read', but they were all new to me! Your explanation makes a lot of sense. Thanks!
