As soon as we get the new phone books- they go directly to our recycle bag.
In this age of computers-why does the villages & phone companies insist on distributing worthless phone books. No one uses an encyclopedia anymore-why use phone books? |

We use our phonebooks and our paper calendars and our because they are often faster and because they contain information such as a resident's hometown that are not otherwise available. We also recycle

I believe TV phone book is a private publication and not available on line. I just tried the online white pages for a friend that I know is listed in TV phone book and it returned 0 matches

The "other" phone book sorts the information at least 3 differen ways. I've yet to see any online program that will allow you to do this. If you do not want to use the phone books, recycle them. There are others that find them useful.

Here's a link to the website. Depending on your address, you can opt out of 4-6 DEX phone books using this website. Takes two minutes to register. I haven't received these phone books for years. I do get The Villages phone book, which is NOT included on this website. Sorry, can't get the link to work but the website is www. yellowpagesoptout .com without the spaces. I think the villages phonebook with all of the residents information is helpful. I think the regular Yellow Pages is just more clutter since the Internet is so convenient.

For anyone wanting to use The Villages Phonebook online, here is the link. You can search by name or even hometown.

I use them over the kitchen cabinets.. they sit lower then the top of the cabinets and my "stuff" is on top of them ... the books are hidden and my "stuff" looks better being raised up a little bit.

I agree. My wife was a medical lab technician during her career, she ran highly sophisticated computerized lab equipment. She has an I phone, an I pad and a laptop. Yet, she reaches for the printed phone book every time
