I disagree. It is a problem for some folks to answer the door not to mention all the political phone calls. I got a call from Pat Boone, Bruce Springsteen and Mitt Romney and about a thousand calls from the RNC.

I find it very intolerant for anyone to knock on my door with a suggestion that my religion will have me burning in hell and ask me to change. I will not knock on your door and I DEMAND that you do not knock on mine if you intend to tell me I am going to hell for what I believe in.

We had a nanny for our 3 children, that was a JW.Dawn worked for us for over 20 years, and left only after our youngest went off to college.She was a wonderful person,who only on a rare occasion would leave literature for me to read,never trying to convert the wife,kids or myself.We almost decided to have another child just to keep her around.Lexington has a large congregation of JW,who do come by the neighborhood and try to drop off their literature.You just politely tell them your not interested,and they go on their way,how difficult is that? Glad i live in a neighborhood that is very accepting of others, and has tolerance for all religions. Over the years i've used several JW,who were friends of Dawn,to work on my apartment buildings,NEVER had a problem.

Religious, charitable and political solicitation is exempt from door to door solicitation rules, just as they are exempt from having to abide by the"Do not call " registry.

Well, let's put a completely different spin on this. They (assuming of course) they don't live here. They are going door to door bothering folks. This is a "gated" community. (yes use the term loosely) I see no issue with CW having them leave the area. And why aren't the gate guards asking non residents business in the area instead of waving them on through?? Nothing to do with religion. I look out the window and if its someone I'm not expecting or know I won't answer it. On another note I think someone also posted once there was some place you could call to have your address removed from the "visitation" list. I think if CW gets hit with enough phone calls they will have to do something.

The gate guards are not allowed to block anybody from entering because the county maintains the roads. That's the deal the developer worked out with Sumter county years ago when the county wanted the gates removed. They are public roads and therefore the public has access to them. The gates are just for show.
