We live in an extremely safe town here. There are those who do not like the Sun for reasons I suspect are political...And they are very vocal on this forum.....

I have to shake my head over that one Gracie. Perhaps people like myself don't like the Daily Sun because it just doesn't do a very good job of reporting the news! Time and time again the Sun has not reported on events of importance or they have only reported about half the story. The Sun is an excellent advertising vehicle for the Developer, which is fine, but as far as news, many don't find it to be a good newspaper.

That is exactly right. They are not selling anything so no solicitation there. Now if they refuse to leave your property, then that is trespassing and the police will handle that! Everyone beats up CW, but for people who make minimum wage they do a great job watching our community and the are NOT law enforcement! JMHO

I honestly don't know much about the JW beliefs, my only knowledge is that people find them annoying and that they don't celebrate holidays. They've never come to my home trying to suck me in.

As a Cafeteria Catholic I'm a bit intrigued by the level of commitment these people have.

Ok, so here's the story. I used to be neighbors to Jehovah's Witnesses and they were the nicest people. If you really want to know what they believe, their official website is www.jw.org. So, the question is WHY do they come to the door? Because they are footstep followers of Christ. "And this good news of the kingdom shall be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to ALL the nations, and then the end will come." - (bible quote). They are not solicitors. They LOVE others and teach others the bible with in-home bible studies. They don't force anything on anyone. They are looking for sheep, not goats. There are many people interested in being comforted by the bible and want answers to things that are happening on the earth. If you are not interested, politeness is a kind thing. As a matter of fact, their magazines are pretty superb with up to date information about things that are happening. These are hard-working people who have jobs and are honest and use their personal time to care about people. To be sarcastic about them and mean is not virtuous and is not funny.

I also agree. I know quite a few Witness's including my brother and family. They are all good people. Yes, they do go door to door. No, I don't like that they do that, but its their belief and not mine. As long as they are not hurting anyone...so be it.

Just because we feel we live in a bubble and are somtimes isolated from the outsde world we still have to abide by the laws of the sate and the fedeal government. Certain laws
allow for solicitation. Just tell the solicitor in a friendly manner you are not interested. What is the big deal ?
