When they put up the new directional signs to help drivers negotiate the roundabouts I thought it was very clear which lane was to be used for which direction - going straight, turning left or turning right.
Apparently that was wishful thinking. Twice in the last 2 days a driver in the right lane crossed over in front of me to make a left hand turn. Sigh. If a driver has out of state plates, I try to be patient, but the last one had Florida plates and a gate pass. He should have known better. I seems to me that it's really pretty simple - if there was no roundabout, you would never make a left hand turn from the right hand lane or a right hand turn from the left lane. The same rule applies here. I love the roundabouts since it keeps traffic flowing, but I hate feeling that I'm risking my life every time I come to one. So, please be careful out there and think about what you are doing. |

Agree with you, signs can't be made any clearer. Your explanation of what you would do under normal conditions is right on. It's time for some people to stop driving. Remember always be careful in the round a bouts.
