Default What's with the gas prices ...

What are the gas prices doing in the US ?

When I drove to work, this morning, diesel was $6.37/gal. On the way home, it was down to $5.80/gal. A $.57/gal decrease!

It's not unusual to to have a variation of $.30/gal, but a $.50 swing is pretty big...

By the way, I'm in Germany, so don't freak out and go running to fill up!

I am paying $2.93.9 per gallon. My car holds about 16 gallons. A tank full of gas is approximately $40.00,(about 13 plus gallons).

As of Yesterday - Pacific NW(Greater Seattle) Arco at $3 Cheveron at $3.12 this is reg gas not premium or diesel.

The net says Lady Lake is $2.81-$2.85 for Reg and $3.02-$3.09 for diesel.
Is that what you guys are paying??

My TV friends from Ohio will appreciate this--

I filled up Monday at my Kroger (an Ohio-based grocery that also sells gas) for $1.52. It was listed as $1.67; but, I get $0.15 off per gallon with my Kroger card.

You mean $2.52 I assume?

If not I'm moving to Ohio.

My latest price is $2.54 with my Hess discount card here in MA.

I can beat that. I paid 1.199 per gal (with my Giant Eagle discounts) and filled up the trucks 35 gal tank. Had I waited a day or two it would have been $1.099 per gal.

Back in November I used my discounts and purchased 30 gal at $.059 per gal for a total fill up of $1.77. You gotta know how to play the game.

Gas prices today were $2.69 but they usually change on Tuesday. Last week they were in the $2.50 to $2.55 range and then were all at $2.85.

Oh so you're talking about some sort of bonus points from a store. That's hard to compare since you can't be sure how much those points really cost you. But I like the game.

You receive $.10 or $.20 cents off for every $50.00 worth of purchases at the store towards your next gas purchase at their stations. The difference depends on what county the store is located in. I live very close to the county line so I go to the store that gives the $.20. They also sell a lot of gift cards and those can be added to your total. Stores and restaurants such as Home Depot, Olive Garden, McDonald's, Star Bucks, Bone Fish, Red Lobster, Longhorn, Applebee's, Best Buy and a lot of others to choose from. Going to be getting something from Home Depot go get a gift card first and add to your discounts.

Here is another thing to add to the savings and that is if I use my one credit card I get 2% back on all grocery purchases and that includes the gift cards. Also using that credit card and paying at the pumps gets you another 4%.

There are a couple of catches and that is your gas purchases at the discounted rate are limited to 30 gallons and you have 4 months from the time of purchase to use the discounts. Now to make this all work out you have to buy the full 30 gallons at one time and for only one vehicle so you either need something with a large fuel tank or a lot of 5 gallon containers. I have a friend that just takes 3 or 4 gas containers with him when he uses his discounts to get the full benefit. If you only have an 18 gallon tank and no fuel cans you are just giving away all your savings.

You gotta know how to play the game. I think if you do all the math you will see that for every $100 spent at the store you save over 16%+ overall.
