Thank you. A good, honest and reliable handyman certainly is worth their weight in gold. I have no idea how easy or hard jobs are to do since I've never done them. Well, some I understand, but I'm no expert on these things. I never know what I don't know.

All products at lowes/home depot are throw away products. The only way to find good products with helpful customer service is to go to a appliance store. When you have a store that pays poverty wages, china crap you have a recipe for disaster baking in the oven.

Yes, Costco is the way to go. They even give an extra year on the warranty.

I find that super profitable retailers like Lowe's and Home Depot just don't care about customer service. It seems to me that their only concern is profit and paying people is considered a negative overhead. Until that attitude changes in this country, sorry, I'm afraid this trend will continue.

Moving into a new village several years ago, many people purchased a gas dryer from Lowe's. Many were not connected properly and Leesburg Gas came out and shut off a lot of gas lines. This was covered on our group discussion. Apparently you can hire Leesburg gas to properly hook up your gas dryer for a small fee like $35.

When building here during Covid, the appliances became difficult to obtain. The developer was acquiring them and storing them in the garages of new construction homes. Not only exposed to extreme temperatures, roaches were found to be in some that were installed in new homes. When we heard this, we decided to purchase our own. I shopped around for the best price considering we were purchasing 8 appliances. The significantly best price came from a family owned business in Altamonte Springs called Sonny's Discount Appliances. They were within the delivery area for our house. I ordered and had them all installed by them. (Some places would not hook up gas dryers and some would not connect water line for icemaker.) Delivery and installation were flawless. We had issues with our refrigerator and GE service deteriorated after several visits. My salesman said it wasn't fair to me and delivered and installed a new refrigerator. I don't think this level of service would come from the big box stores. This is my last GE refrigerator though, because you can only use their filters and many of them have been defective, spewing out lots of charcoal into our water. We gave up and use the bypass now.

do not buy any appliance from either Lowes or Home Depot. Go to Appliance Direct on 441 in Fruitland Park or MVB Appliance on 441 in Leesburg. You will get much better prices and customer care than either of the big box stores.

Why not an appliance store?
I recommend buying appliances from an appliance store. We bought refrigerator, beverage refrigerator, microwave / convection oven, oven with air frier, warming drawer, washer and dryer from Milcarsky. We would have bought our hood from them, too, but the developer would not allow that because they could not/would not close without the hood installed. So the only major appliances that were in the house at closing were the Monogram induction cook top and Monogram dishwasher. Excellent Experience The experience was excellent. We made an appointment to visit the showroom. We spent a couple of hours looking at our options with a salesman who wrote up the order when we were done. We had either a follow up phone call or email from the owner to make sure that we were happy with everything. We made one modification to the order IIRC and everything was done via email. The sales, installation and service was excellent 10/10. Milcarsky had to make an additional trip for the oven because the cabinet design was off in depth by about 1/4 inch. The developer had to cut out some of the 1/8 inch plywood in the back to fit the electrical connection. They also came out once to service the warming drawer. The day after closing everything was working fine, except for the oven, of course, which was not their fault. In my previous two houses, one a build and the second a kitchen remodel, all appliances were purchased from appliance stores. |

I find that I like to go into the store and checkout the variety of appliances, pick which I like and talk with a sales person. I usually believe about half of what they say, but appreciate the information. Then I order on line. I have had no problems with deliveries in the past but I shop from reputable stores, like Costco. There was an instance of the washer being installed and the line dripped water. I called the installer who was back within the hour to fix it and left me his cell if anything else happened. This was 5 years ago, no problems with washer so far. I had most of my appliances changed since buying the house all on line and the washer was the only one with a hiccup. |
